ARAPU
Mention his name to any clued up dancefloor connoisseur and they won’t mince their words: Arapu is a certified treasure. Based in Bucharest, he has been putting out records since 2011, although he cultivated his passion for music since he was 15. A real master of the decks, the electronic spaces Arapu creates are characterised by a straightforward style and its own seductive playfulness. The captivating basslines and driving synths are nothing more than the best fertilizer for his signature sound, carefully mixed at the right bpm to wake up the crowd’s voracious hunger fordancing.
His success is measured in the pleasure he finds in making music, a feeling that may start in the club, but it never seems to end there. Alongside the drones layers, field recordings and bass rumble, Arapu’s discography reaches a greater range of emotions. It’s hard not to notice that his records hide a special feature: the ability to amplify any form of good mood. As a natural outgrowth, in 2015 he started his own label – Liniar. Look beyond the big moments and you’ll see a sound pilot with bigideas.
C.S.R
Dance music was always about having fun. It’s an ethos that has not escaped Cesar Merveille, the Paris-born enchanter whose ascent through the ranks of house and techno has been powered by an irrepressible joie de vivre, matched only by a desire to be challenged by everythinghe does.
Encouraged by creative freedom during his formative years, Cesar learnt to listen to his instincts and keep a healthy dose of soul in everything he turned his hand to. The following years, spent immersed in London’s underground, soon found Cesar holding residencies for such fabled parties as Lo-Kee and the T-Bar. It was his later partnership with Cadenza that propelled really Cesar to the world stage, providing a platform for his music to reach a broad audience and enabling him to command dancefloors big and small the world over. Such exposure has also given rise to new artistic ventures, most notably working with long-time friend Ryan Crosson on the “DRM” project. The full-length album from the pair came to light on Visionquest, providing space for them to explore textures and moods unconstrained by the dancefloor’s demands. From his current base in Berlin, Cesar has embraced the natural workflow of hardware production, immersing himself in a studio powered by machines and intuition. His new label Roche Madame is a product of this, channeling the creative energy of musical allies to give rise to new collaborations. Inspired by a secret family location off the coast of Brittany, the label is both a tribute to his roots and a celebration of the here and now, a moment that Cesar is forever livingin.
Constantly feeding off his environment, Cesar’s unbridled energy finds him operating both as a world-class DJ, and as an artist embracing innovation whilst committed to his grounding principle ofmusic as pleasure.
GIULIANO LOMONTE
Giuliano Lomonte hails from Andria in the south of Italy, though a healthy passion for music has long coaxed him out its gorgeous Mediterranean climes. As a clubber around Europe, he nurtured the love for electronic music—particularly deep, tech, hypnotic, extended cuts pressed to vinyl. It’s the sound he mines as a DJ, and you can regularly hear him teasing out the groove at Berlin clubs like Hoppetosse, Club der Visionaere, Wilde Renate and Watergate. Deeply in love with vinyl and strongly affected by trippy – groovy tunes, Giuliano is absolutely passionate in playing long lasting sets. Through releases on Sammy Dee’s Ultrastretch Label, Point of View, and Frankfurt’s Pressure Traxx, you can hear Lomonte’s musical vision in its purest form.HERCK
Herck (Cilibiu Sergiu-Mario), was born on the 15th of December 1990 in Arad. His love for music started early in his life! He was only 15 years old when he felt that, music and mixing became his passion! So at 17 years, he discovered some basic audio software and he took his first steps in the production world. Next step was learning how to produce his own records, and he’s trying to produce different styles, and be an unique artist. At the moment he’s spending most of his time on his studio working on original tracks, remixes and also collaborations. He believes that in a short period of time there will be people who loves selective electronic music.KAMRAN SADEGHI
Kamran Sadeghi is an Iranian born American record producer, musician and composer of electronic music based in Brooklyn, NY. The sound palate and process that makes up Sadeghi’s body of work can not becontained.
From performing and producing an album with Patti Smith to using the inside of a defunct nuclear cooling tower as an echo chamber, to playing live techno with modular synthesizers. Kamran embraces the unknown and works within it, allowing for new sounds to emerge. Although Sadeghi studied Music Theory and Composition, Jazz percussion and audio engineering, he considers himself an autodidact that works with sound as a medium because of it’s impermanence, non-object nature and structural integrity. His sound world is full of hyper magnification, stillness, unexpected shifts, and sharp punctuation’s that play with an idea of drawing lines in space with sound. From 2012 to 2018, Kamran was vital in the transition of the audio tour guide company, Soundwalk, into the music group Soundwalk Collective. As the former commissioned music producer, sound artist and live performance director, Kamran wrote music for multiple performers, custom designed instruments, and created studio albums from non-musical field recordings. In 2008 Kamran put the traditional output of making albums on pause to create multi-channel sound installations and performances that combined his custom designed interactive video compositions. During this period he was awarded an artist residency producing work using the Nam June Paik ‘Wobbulator’, worked for composer Morton Subotnick and became co-curator of one of the first galleries dedicated to multi-channel Sound Art, Diapason. Active in the contemporary music scene in New York, he performed at Issue Project Room, Experimental Intermedia, The Stone and many others. Sadeghi’s output of exploratory music and productions can be found on a diverse list of labels such as Sternberg Press, Sacred Bones Records, Apollo, Cocoon Recordings, Dragons Eye Recordings, Marionette and more. His work has received routine critical acclaim in The Wire Magazine among others. His solo experimental performances have put him on line- ups with the likes of Moritz Von Oswald, Fennesz, Tim Hecker and Vladislav Delay, Richard Devine among others.NIKO MAXEN
Niko Maxen is a DJ, producer and record label owner that comes from Leeds – a place with a rich rave and party heritage going back to the dawn of electronic music. His passion for music was passed onto Niko from his parents who owned quite a diverse collection of vinyl spreading from funk, soul to disco and even R&B, so creating his own imprint was just the matter of time. Pathway Traxx was born back in 2013 with a simple aim to create a platform for Niko’s own productions. The label soon gathered support amongst the underground scene and provided a welcome home for new breakthrough artists such as Jack Wickham, Michael James, Jamie Trench, Manoozand others.
Besides successful releases on his own imprint, Niko has also released music on labels such as Signatune, Recordeep, Shadow Sanctuary and most recently Phorus.
Over the last few years, the UK native has co-run the underground party Beatstreet, which has played host to the likes of Subb-An, Seb Zito, Chris Lattner, Rossko, amongst others. In April 2018, Niko Maxen has decided to take the next step by moving to Australia where he’ll host Pathway Traxx showcases and continue to grow as an artist.SAM O’SOMEN
Sam O’somen is Adrien de Maublanc of Masomenos, a productive partnership between Joan Costes, a graphic designer and DJ, and Adrien de Maublanc, a producer and sound engineer. They have been working for more than ten years on creating a universe in which psychedelic imagery melts with a bunch a tribal and childlikecreatures
