HEATING WATER WITH SOLAR ENERGY Introduction Solar water heaters are commonly used as heat sources for radiant floor systems in regions where an abundant solar resource is available. Normally, a large solar heated storage tank (with electric, gas, or oil backup) supplies hot water to the radiant system and most often provides for domestic needs as well. The open system uses one heat source, your domestic water heater, to provide both floor heating and domestic hot water. The two systems are basically tied together. This is a very efficient system because one heat source is doing all ON-DEMAND WATER HEATERS The Elite is another on-demand unit used for radiant heating applications. At up to 98% efficiency it is an extraordinary heat source, but the Primary/Secondary plumbing configuration recommended by Heat Transfer Products is somewhat more complicated than the Takagi.. THE CLOSED SYSTEM
Introduction This approach utilizes a dedicated heat source for the radiant floor. The fluid in a closed system is re-circulated around and around in a completely closed loop. There is no connection whatsoever to the domestic water supply. The main advantage to this system lies in the fact that, being closed, anti-freeze instead ofwater

To use an adaptor, first prep the fitting for soldering by TANK TYPE ~ GAS WATER HEATERS The Polaris is a “tank-type” water heater. It heats water at 96% efficiency, slightly better than the Takagi on-demand unit. But because the Polaris stores 50 gallons of hot water, it suffers from “stand-by heat loss” and that fact lowers its overall efficiency. The upfront cost of a Polaris is also high due to its stainless steeltank.

HEATING WATER WITH SOLAR ENERGY Introduction Solar water heaters are commonly used as heat sources for radiant floor systems in regions where an abundant solar resource is available. TANK TYPE ~ GAS WATER HEATERS The Polaris is a “tank-type” water heater.
