Top 10 HADROSAURS. 10 - Magnapaulia The hadrosaur dinosaurs are all noted for having high neural spines on their vertebrae, but those of Magnapaulia are particularly high. This has led to fresh speculation that Magnapaulia may have used these spines to increase body area to help with swimming, like a huge paddle. However in the past this idea has beenHOLOPTYCHIUS
Holoptychius seems to have been a particularly widespread genus of lobe-finned fish. Like relative genera, the body was streamlined with most of the fins in a more rearward placement on the body. WELCOME TO PREHISTORIC-WILDLIFE.COM, A COMPREHENSIVE ONLINE GUIDE TO PREHISTORIC CREATURES. In the species index you will find a great many entries, but don’t expect to find just dinosaurs. While there is a great number of dinosaur species on here, you will also find the early arthropods which include sea scorpions bigger than a person. The earliest fish are also here, including the prehistoric sharks that hunted the ocean depths before, during and after the age of giant marine reptiles. The early amphibians and their early reptile descendants also have entries. From here you will have entries for the dinosaurs, but also other creatures of the Mesozoic like the pterosaurs, early mammals, ancient crocodiles and the first birds. Other index entries will be for the mammals that became the dominant life forms of the planet after the dinosaurs, with entries from the sabre toothed cats to the first whales. You will even find entries for animals that are prehistoric, but are still alive in our world today. Click a letter to go to the corresponding list. This site also tries to go beyond being just another online encyclopaedia and includes articles about the creatures in general. These cover subjects such as biology of the creatures, possible behaviour, to how they were found andreconstructed.
Two additional sections are the glossary and time periods page. The glossary is a good place to check out if you are uncertain about what some of the words and terminology mean. The time periods page is an overview of how the different geological time periods fit together. Fun areas are the acivities section which features fun activity sheets which can be downloaded and printed off. Top lists on the other hand features compilations of creatures that stand out amongst others for a given particular field. Content copyright www.prehistoric-wildlife.com 2011-2020.
