It’s an infinite retro 2D Shoot’Em Up, created with Unity.Bullets patterns are designed and implemented with our own library, BulletML for Unity. All the sprites have been drawn by the Ulule’s backers, making the game truly unique and personalized for the festival. DOCUMENTATION: HOW TO USE Documentation: How to use. 1. Import the Unity package. Import the whole package in your Unity project. The Demo/ folder contains a demo scene with some patterns. You can delete the whole folder from your project once you don’t need the examples anymore. The other foldersare mandatory. 2.

Pixelnest Studio is a two-people indie development studio, co-founded by Matthieu Oger and Damien Mayance. We craft games and apps. PROJECTS — PIXELNEST STUDIO STEREDENN: BINARY STARS is an award-winning mashup of a classic shmup and a rogue-like, carved in big beautiful pixels, with insane boss battles. Fly solo or co-op with a friend, fighting off the worst scourges of space in a never-ending struggle for survival. More weapons, more upgrades, more polish, more waves, a new balance, a newscoring.
MENUS - LOADING AND RESTARTING THE GAME Matthieu: unlike many game developers, I disagree with the previous statement.Creating a good game GUI is not an easy task, but it can be rewarding and interesting. However, creating menus requires good tools and some sensible design decisions (like for an app interface). But yeah; a good menu must be invisible and the players should not evennotice it exists.

UNITY AND TOUCH CONTROLS For iOS and Android, Unity comes with a small app: Unity Remote. It allows a device to connect to Unity via the local network. Using the app, the touch screen becomes a usable interface with a degraded live preview of your computer. This is the good way to debug touch controls, but you still need to fully deploy to really test the app ona device.
BULLETML FOR UNITY
BulletML for Unity is a simple and powerful wrapper around BulletML (originally created by Kenta Cho), for Unity 4.3 or higher, made by Pixelnest Studio.. It allows you to design some very complex bullet patterns with a simple XML file. It’s especially useful in “Shoot’Em Up” (shmup) games to create memorable boss fights orenemies.
THE BEGINNING AND THE END Branching Paths. Pixelnest. After 5 years of Pixelnest Studio, we — Matthieu & Damien — are moving onto new adventures, starting January 2019. This is not a breakup! Everything is great but after doing the same job for the past 5 years, we want to explore new and different topics, jobs and positions. Steredenn was a huge critical andPARALLAX SCROLLING
For the moment, we have created a static scene with a player and some enemies. It’s a bit boring. Time to enhance our background and scene. An effect that you find in every single 2D game for 15 years is “parallax scrolling”. To make it short, the idea is to move the background layers at different speeds (i.e., the farther the layer is, the slower it moves). MAKING SOME NOISES ON MUSIC Matthieu: I have created some sounds and songs for a short school project made by a friend.I was a drummer at the time, but absolutely not a composer. However, with the help of Freesound, a bit of inventiveness and a dozen of hours (without knowing any tool — so I just learned how to use Audacity the quick way), I successfully did a (cheap) soundtrack for the whole game. STEREDENN: BINARY STARS Frequently Asked Questions FAQ #1: Binary Stars what? Steredenn: Binary Stars is the name of this massive expansion.Steredenn: Classic is the game you already know (and love! 😉).. FAQ #2: You said that the final release of Steredenn was exactly what you wanted to do withthe game.

INSTALL UNITY AND CREATE YOUR FIRST SCENE Scenes. A scene is basically a level or a menu. Contrary to the other objects you create in the “Project” pane, scenes are created with the “File” menu. If you want to create a scene, click on the “New Scene” submenu, then do not forget to save it to the “Scenes” folder. Scenes need to be manually saved. It’s aclassic mistake
