Earth Day 2021. This year, the Earth Day Network announced that the 2021 theme for Earth Day is “Restore Our Earth.”. Unknown to many, the Earth Day Network creates a new theme every year to conform with the current environmental problems in that specific year. LONG ISLAND'S COASTAL PLAIN PONDS Long Island’s Coastal Plain Ponds are one of the rarest and most fragile wetland ecosystems in North America. According to the New York Natural Heritage Program, there are just over 30 documented coastal plain pond shores in New York. The Long Island Pine Barrens Society started Long Island Moms For Clean Water, an organization of concerned Long Island families committed to improving the quality of drinking water and surface water from Great Neck to Montauk for the future of our children.
