SOROS FELLOWSHIP FOR NEW AMERICANS Igor Cherepinsky works as an engineer for Sikorsky Aviation in Connecticut. Igor was born in Ukraine and came to the United States in 1990. He received his master's in engineering from Polytechnic University in 1999 after completing a BS, also at Polytechnic. P.D. SOROS FELLOWSHIP FOR NEW AMERICANS JINESH SHAH is a radiation oncologist with Advanced Radiation Centers of New York, where he treats patients with malignancies that require radiotherapy. He has a keen interest in serving immigrant P.D. SOROS FELLOWSHIP FOR NEW AMERICANS Ashwin Sah is the son of Indian immigrants who came to the United States in pursuit of higher education. Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, some of Ashwin’s earliest and fondest memories are of his mother teaching him arithmetic. P.D. SOROS FELLOWSHIP FOR NEW AMERICANS NIRAV SHAH is the Director of the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Previously, he served as the Director of the Illinois Department of Health. Earlier in P.D. SOROS FELLOWSHIP FOR NEW AMERICANS The son of immigrants from Pakistan, Captain Hamid Nasir was raised in the great State of Alaska. When he was sixteen, Hamid was appointed as a Senate page by the late Senator Ted Stevens. The P.D. SOROS FELLOWSHIP FOR NEW AMERICANS Cynthia was born in Shanghai, China. Her parents and grandparents had been sent to rural farms for re-education during the Cultural Revolution. She and her family moved to California soon after she P.D. SOROS FELLOWSHIP FOR NEW AMERICANS VIVEK RAMASWAMY is the founder and CEO of Roivant Sciences. Vivek was born in Cincinnati to Indian parents. In high school he was class valedictorian, a nationally ranked junior tennis player and an P.D. SOROS FELLOWSHIP FOR NEW AMERICANS GABRIEL BRAT is a surgeon at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston and the co-founder of Tissue Analytics. Previously, he was a surgeon at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Maryland. Gabriel is the son of P.D. SOROS FELLOWSHIP FOR NEW AMERICANS Thuy Thi Nguyen is the president of Foothill College. She is the first Vietnamese president of a community college in California, and possibly in the country. Previously, she served as General P.D. SOROS FELLOWSHIP FOR NEW AMERICANS ARPIT MALAVIYA is the Founder of ProDIGIQ in California. Now a naturalized US citizen, Arpit was born in Kanpur, India and immigrated to the United States when he was 22 years old. Arpit holds a P.D. SOROS FELLOWSHIP FOR NEW AMERICANS Danya Qato, 2003. Assistant Professor, University of Maryland, Baltimore. Danya Qato is an immigrant from Palestinian Territories.
