The Humber Releaf project is a project that is being set up by the PATT Foundation that aims to create a revolving fund to support ongoing reforestation in the Humber region and create employment for veterans under the Green Task Force. How PATT works At Plant a Tree Today we love trees, we love planting trees, we love supporting people to plant trees. This means that sometimes we partner with landowners and create our own plantings. At other times we help to support and enable community groups to plant trees and create woodlands. At HOW IT ALL STARTED... How it all started. A long time ago in a land far away, the 27 th May 2006 in Thailand, a group of family and friends took a 7-hour minibus journey to Sangklaburi, in the Kanchanaburi province to carry out our first tree-planting project. IMPHAL BARRACKS
Imphal Barracks. When the opportunity arose to plant trees at the barracks in York it was a project that only had one delivery teams name on it, the veterans from the PATT Foundations ‘Green Task Force’. The charity was approached by Leah Hallas, from the Community Forest Trust to the look at the planting of 675 trees at thehome of the 2
GREEN TASK FORCE GAINS MOMENTUM Green Task Force gains momentum. The PATT team has been extremely busy putting together the strategy around the Green Task Force and the rollout program starting in Hull in preparation for the up and coming tree planting season. PATT is currently developing a 3 level tree planting accreditation scheme. With support from the Armed Forces ONE HULL OF A FOREST One ‘Hull’ of a Forest. The main objective of the project is to plant trees involving schools/ businesses and the general public to help increase the cities woodland cover. While our first tree planted was in Thailand, we are now back home in the UK (In the north of England) where we are working in partnership with a number of different organisations engaged with meeting the UK government target of being a carbon neutral nation. BUTTERFLY CITY
Local Hull MP Emma Hardy has been working with a number of organisations to plant Buckthorn, which attracts female Brimstone butterflies from as far as two miles. As the only requirement for the Brimstone is Buckthorn, this makes it an ideal urban butterfly, and so the idea of creating a butterfly city was born. Butterfly City is ahuge project.
TUNSTALL - PATT FOUNDATION Our trees started their lives on a Yorkshire tree nursery, before being lifted in the autumn ready for planting. Our team then plants them, first opening up the soil, then popping the HULL COMMUNITY DIGGERS Hull Community Diggers is volunteer-led, supervised by a Project Manager, and currently has over 20 members/associates & a core group of 4 founding members. We are steadily growing. Hull Community Diggers promotes personal, social and community development and support for mental wellbeing.
