HUMAN TRAFFICKING IN LOS ANGELES: A GLOBAL CRISIS The human trafficking industry is growing in the United States and around the world. Worth an estimated $150 billion each year globally, it is the world’s second most profitable criminal enterprise, alongside the trafficking of illegal weapons and just behind the trafficking of illegal drugs. Experts believe that as many as 27-30 million modern day slaves exist in the world today.
