Yet a far THE ONE QUESTION MOST PEOPLE FAIL TO ASK The movie, as you may have guessed, was Rocky, and the actor was a young Slyvester Stallone. Most people in Stallone’s position would have given up the lead to another actor and just sold the script. But Stallone wanted to be an actor. That was his north star. With his long-term guiding principle clear, the decision was simple. IF YOU WANT TO BE RIGHT, PROVE YOURSELF WRONG The solution is simple: Attempt to prove yourself wrong on a daily basis. When our focus shifts from proving ourselves right to proving ourselves wrong, we seek different inputs, we combat deeply-entrenched biases, and we open ourselves up to competing facts and arguments. I was lying on a dentist’s chair in Germany, recovering from an emergency root canal, contemplating why myths and misinformation spread so easily. But let me back up. I had a filling two weeks ago in the United States that was badly botched. The day after I arrived inGermany
DANGERS OF CONFORMITY Conformity is a natural and efficient instinct. From the day we’re born, we learn by emulating and assimilating. It teaches us everything from how to walk to how to talk. It may be a harmless process when it comes to learning to walk and talk. But as we grow THE CONTRARIAN HANDBOOK Dick Fosbury was a contrarian. You may not have heard of him, but if you’ve ever watched an Olympic high jump event, you’ve seen his technique in action. HENRY FORD'S SECRET TO SUCCESS 'If there is any one secret of success, it lies in the ability to get the other person's point of view and see things from that person's angle as well as from your own.' // Henry Ford In the 1980s, back when some commercials were worth watching, The Guardian releasedBLOG - OZAN VAROL

TRY THIS. An experimenter walks into a room and gives you these three numbers. 2, 4, 6. She tells you that the numbers follow a simple rule, and your job is to discover the rule by proposing different strings of three numbers. The experimenter will then tell you whether the strings youHOW MYTHS SPREAD
A mountain of data dispelling the fraudulent study that links the MMR vaccine to autism isn’t interesting. Jenny McCarthy explaining how her son developed autism after getting a vaccine (and then being miraculously cured through a dietary intervention) is endlessly fascinating. Once reported and retweeted, these myths become thetruth.
HOW TO THINK LIKE ALBERT EINSTEIN AND ELON MUSK Through first-principles thinking, he discovered that time itself is relative, not absolute, and moved more slowly closer to a massive object or at high speeds. Although counter-intuitive, Einstein’s theory of time dilation has been verified in practice. For example, time flows about 40 microseconds faster on GPS satellites than a clockon Earth.
Begin by figuring out why you believe what you believe. FACTS DON'T CHANGE PEOPLE'S MINDS. HERE'S WHAT DOES Convince your own mind (or your friend) that your prior decision or prior belief was the right one given what you knew, but now that the underlying facts have changed, so should the mind. But instead of giving the mind an out, we often go for a punch to the gut. We belittle the other person (“I told you so”). I’m a rocket scientist turned author and law professor. But at heart, I’m a contrarian. At its core, a contrarian is someone who looks at conventional wisdom and asks _“Why?”_ and _“Is there a better way?”_ The goal is to re-imagine—not just resist—the status quo. We’re genetically programmed to follow the herd. Thousands of years ago, conformity to our tribe was essential to our survival. If you didn’t conform, you’d be ostracized, rejected, or worse, left fordead.
Not anymore. The ability to disrupt established methods and find new ways of looking at old ideas is one of the most sought-after qualifications in all fields. It’s a superpower that allows you to see things that others miss. Yet this superpower is becoming increasingly rare. We’ve been brainwashed from an early age to toe the line, use # 2 pencils, and color between the lines. But here’s the hard truth: You can’t get ahead if you’re simplyfollowing.
When you learn how to reimagine the status quo, you won’t just change the way you view the world. YOU’LL BE EMPOWERED TO CHANGE THE WORLD ITSELF.PRE- ORDER MY BOOK
