ON CHILDREN AND YOUTH IN CARE DAY 2021, TAKE5 AND TALK May 14 is Children and Youth in Care Day in Ontario. It is a day dedicated to raising awareness about the issues and challenges faced by children and youth in the Ontario child welfare system, as well as celebrating their strength, bravery, and resilience in the face ofadversity.
AFTERCARE BENEFITS INITIATIVE The Aftercare Benefits Initiative (ABI) is a comprehensive health and dental benefits program for former youth in care. The program provides a broad range of benefit coverage, including prescription drug, dental, vision, extended health benefits, counselling, and life skillssupport services.
HOW TO REPORT ABUSE
If you suspect child abuse or neglect, please call your local Children’s Aid Society. In 2018, the age of protection was raised to include youth up to 18 years old. Youth who are 16 and 17 years old are now eligible to receive protection services from Children’s Aid Societies. While reporting for 16 and 17-year old youth is notmandatory
