REMEMBERING WILLIAM J. DEAN William J. Dean, who passed away on August 16, was a defining figure in the life of the New York Society Library for three decades. A member of the Library beginning around 1970, he joined the Board of Trustees in 1989 and served as Chair of the Board from 1992 to 2005.
