Seen by an estimated 62,179 visitors from across the globe, Ziegler’s collection of 50 distressed flags was suspended in the site’s grand rotunda from August 31 through November 11. Marian S. Heiskell, 1918-2019 The staff of the National Parks of New York Harbor Conservancy and our Board of Directors honor the memory of our longtime chair, co-founder and friend, Marian Heiskell. Mrs. Heiskell, among her many accomplishments, was a former newspaper executive, lifelong conservationist, and a leader in numerous philanthropic activities. LATE WINTER BIRD WALK February 22, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm. Join naturalist Don Riepe for an indoor presentation followed by a hike around the Wildlife Refuge to look for owls, waterfowl, finches, and other wintering birds. BRIAN TOLLE'S EUREKA AT FEDERAL HALL Beginning Jun 27, with the National Park Service, we are pleased to present Eureka, artist Brian Tolle's towering 40-foot-high sculpture of a 17th century Dutch canal house façade in Federal Hall's Grand Rotunda. On view through September 8, Eureka is part of a new curatorial initiative inviting contemporary artists to investigate themes that resonate with the history and legacy of the site. FLAG EXCHANGE SOARED AT FEDERAL HALL Last weekend marked the final days of Flag Exchange: A Living Thing, an art installation by conceptual artist Mel Ziegler, at Federal Hall.Seen by an estimated 62,179 visitors from across the globe, Ziegler’s collection of 50 distressed flags was suspended in the site’s grand rotunda from August 31 through November 11. BENEFIT DINNER HONORING MARIAN S. HEISKELL On June 26, the Conservancy awards the first Federal Hall Medal for Leadership to our founding Chair, Marian S. Heiskell, at our annual Benefit Dinner held at Federal Hall National Memorial.. The Federal Hall Medal for Leadership is awarded to individuals who through their innovation, commitment and courage, have a profound effect for good ontheir communities.
