A survey of the accident site revealed that the helicopter impacted down sloping, clear-cut terrain, estimated at 30 degrees, on a magnetic heading of 078 degrees. A survey of the accident site revealed that the helicopter impacted down sloping, clear-cut terrain, estimated at 30 degrees, on a magnetic heading of 078 degrees. The helicopter came to rest inverted on a magnetic heading of 141 degrees, at an elevation of 4,907 feet msl. 20040825X01288-20210604-102353 Factual Information. On August 5, 2004, at 1200 central daylight time, a Robinson R44, N7036J, piloted by a commercial pilot, was substantially damaged when the main rotor contacted an open hangar door during takeoff and the helicopter subsequently impacted the ground at Spirit of St. Louis Airport (SUS), Chesterfield, Missouri.
