This major software release introduces real-time visualization with GPU acceleration; a technology breakthrough that will fundamentally change how nTop users interact with the software.NTOP PLATFORM 2.12
2.12 Release Notes Summary. nTopology is proud to announce the release of nTop Platform 2.12! This release features a very powerful set of blocks enabling you to convert meshes into CAD file types for export, such as STEP and Parasolid, so that nTop Platform can further integrate into your ecosystem and company tech stack. NTOP LIVE: LIGHTWEIGHT & EVALUATE MASS SAVINGS OF During the early stages of engineering design, being able to quickly evaluate the influence of key design parameters — such as lattice type, shell thickness, and material — on the performance metrics of a design is essential. NTOP LIVE: COMPUTATIONAL DESIGN OF PERFORMANCE-DRIVEN HEAT The power of computational design is that you can use underlying physics equations to drive geometry and hit performance targets. By combining this key benefit with a Field Driven Design approach, you can create truly optimal designs.FIELD-DRIVEN DESIGN
Field-Driven Design is a radically different approach to engineering. It enables you to follow a top-down generative design process. For example, you can use simulation results of stress analysis to drive the beam thickness of a lattice — increasing the thickness where stresses are higher. When experimental or empirical data are available BETA LATTICE BLOCKS: UNIT CELLS, CELL MAPS, AND LATTICE They now follow a three-step process: Unit Cell, Cell Map, and Periodic Lattice Body. To create a Periodic Lattice Body, you need a Unit Cell, a Cell Map, and a Thickness. 1. Unit Cell. There are several options for standard Unit Cells, Graph, TPMS, and TPMS with bias. Each type has a dropdown menu where you can choose a differentunit cell.
HOW TO OPEN UP A CUSTOM BLOCK OR A TOOLKIT Objective: Learn how to open up a Custom Block, or a built-in Toolkit, to see how it is created. Applies to: Custom Blocks; Procedure: 1. Identify your Custom Block or Toolkit by making sure it has two parallel lines down its left side. HOW DOES THE RAMP BLOCK WORK? The ramp block allows you to gradually change a value, based on the distance field of an object. Ramp functions can be applied to several types of fields. Real Field: The distance field driving the ramp. The object or plane that is the distance field represents the 0 mm mark for your ramp boundary. In min/In max: The boundary where the ramp UNDERSTANDING THE TOPOLOGY OPTIMIZATION SETTINGS TopOpt is an iterative process that updates the topology until the objective is reached and the constraints are satisfied. “An innovative and effective solution to a tricky problem. Until now, generating cellular repeating structures has been painful for designer and computer alike. nTopology platform will be a key tool in helping us demonstrate the power of additive manufacturing to theworld.”
Kevin Brigden, Additive Manufacturing Applications EngineerRenishaw
“To access the tremendous design freedoms that additive manufacturing allows, integrated multi-vendor software workflows are the norm. Tightening the integration between nTopology's industry leading lattice design tools and ANSYS gives engineers the tools they need to design, and validate, cutting edge lightweight structures for aerospace and biomedical markets.” Steve Pilz, Lead Product Manager - Additive ManufacturingANSYS
“Few companies understand the challenges of realising the opportunities in design that advanced manufacturing can deliver, in the same way that we do. nTopology are one of the few.” Sarat Babu, Founder & CEOBetatype
“EOS is excited to be working with nTopology, and is looking forward to how their software can streamline and improve the design to part workflow for next generation parts. As EOS continues to break boundaries and push the frontier of additive manufacturing, we pride ourselves in forming collaborative relationships to be able to offer our customers the best and state of the art technology. ” Dr. Gregory Hayes, Director of Applications and ConsultingEOS North America
“nTop Platform is enabling engineers to do what they’re good at, designing efficient structures which in turn is design for additive manufacturing in a way that abstracts away the non value-added work commonplace in today’s digital workflows and let’s designers and engineers focus on real, system level, innovation.” John Barnes, Founder and Managing Director The Barnes Group Advisors “An innovative and effective solution to a tricky problem.
