SCHOONERS – NOURISHING OBSCURITY Let’s get the grumbles out of the way first: 1. I’m afraid I can’t STAND the music that yachties put into their videos. The yachtie is not a creature of imagination and he either uses that ever-present song that EVERY second yachtie uses, or else he goes theOnedin Line route.
THE CRASH? – NOURISHING OBSCURITY Allow me to comment as someone who pulled six figures (all) out of stocks at the end of last May and invested 20% of it in stocks in a very specific area at the end of last October which are holding up and doing very nicely so far. FOR TOOL FETISHISTS EVERYWHERE Via Chuckles – this one’s for the boys. It’s for girls too but one has to be sexist about these things – after all, if you gaze down at the engine room, whose THREE FARMERS ON THEIR WAY TO A DANCE That was absolutely fascinating, thank you. Who originally told the lie that the three chaps were farmers?-dearieme . Perhaps not a lie as such, I haven’t checked the history of that photo but I do know that German farmers, especially isolated rural mountain farmers, CENTRE COCKPIT VERSUS AFT COCKPIT The above yacht has what is known as an aft cockpit. The boat above here has what is known as a centre cockpit. Debate is fierce between the two, with aft cockpit devotees asking why anyone would have a central cockpit. CAPTION TIME, PALESTINE ATROCITIES, MAY’S PARTING CLIMATE He’s thinking “Should my next bike be a V twin, a V four or an in-line four?” (Maybe she would think that as bad as thinking aboutanother woman.

Chuckles sent these of Kazan, my old home town for 12 years. The pics are excellent but sadly don’t include places I knew and loved – the university, the Pyramid, my home. ANTHEMS
by James Higham
• March
13, 2020 • 9 Comments The versions of Jerusalem on youtube are disappointing. From two renditions set only in London to a dirge-like Last Night of the Proms to The Wedding which had the grandeur all right until they insisted on focussing on the revolting Elton John, it was becoming frustrating. Bruce Dickinson’s was good folk, with Ian Anderson but it wasn’t the high spiritual grandeur of Blake. Even ELP, which had the grandeur in its tinny sound, also had that silly album cover but finally, one version turned out the least bad: A modern anthem by Roy Williamson, like the Irish one following, it’s pretty well their national anthem now. You may well disagree but methinks the Scottish and Irish anthems really _must_ be sung byindigenous maidens:
… or else be played on the pipes: Pete St John’s modern anthem, just as with RW’s, really _must_ be sung by a girl with a light voice of pathos – no one can do pathos like the Irish colleen: Which anthem is Wales’s though? Who knows – the one about saucepans? Or this? The only way to hear it is from a male voice choir, no other way:Isle of Man:
This will have to do as Ulster’s/Northern Ireland’s: This next one will be bitterly opposed by the English, with snorts of disdain, but it’s an anthem all the same: Once we try to do the Channel Islands we get into a real mess. This is the official Jersey anthem, adopted after a competition: But this was the historical anthem: However, Guernsey has its own: At this point, I’m just giving it away … sigh … you can do your own Alderney, Sark, Herm and Bretagne. Oh my goodness, almost forgot: You’ll have to do your own Montserrat. Blogging and cyber things PARASKEVIDEKATRIAPHILIA DAY TOOby James Higham

Chuckles was so enamoured of the recent spate of classical music that he offered this to round it out:5. SCOTT ADAMS SAYS
I understand the Chinese government hates the label “Wuhan Virus,” so that’s all I’m going to call it from now on. #WuhanVirus 4. JESSICA BARNARD SAYS Norfolk is the only county in the UK without any confirmed cases of coronavirus The total lack of transport links to the rest of the UK is finally paying off.3. NOSTALGIA
On the right, the other side of the fence, used to be a golf course. On the left, the other side of the fence, used to be two sailing clubs on Albert Park Lake – APYC and ASC, side by side. I used to race there, have sailed many, many times on those waters, so to see this last evening was a shock. Used to love sailing over to the golf course, waving to a golfer and getting a wave back, turning the boat and zooming off to the far, St Kilda end : 2. ‘MENTAL HEALTH’ SEEMS TO BE THE KEY FACTOR HERE https://www.city-journal.org/progressive-narrative-on-homelessness1. 13, 2020 • 9 Comments The highly staged Erdogan theatre at the Greek border is one of many inflammatory situations but it’s the one which most closely approximates the siege of Vienna, it also involves Constantinople and the notion of Reconquista. With differences of course – Radders: http://raedwald.blogspot.com/2020/03/eu-shamefaced-over-italy-as-china-rides.html Well, this week Europe was sharply reminded of that agreement. At a time when France and Germany banned the export of medical equipment to Italy, China rapidly arranged to airfreight millions of masks, gowns, eyeshields, alcohol gel and even respirators, thanking Italy for the care provided to the 300,000 Chinese expats working in northern Italy, and re-committing to the friendship between the two nations. The response of the EU to the challenge has been, at the least, confused.
Certainly exposes the chinks in the system, doesn’t it. Confused is a good way to describe the whole shooting match: As for Greece itself and its border: And I wonder how far this lot are concerned with any notion of Reconquista, getting Europe back for the Europeans? Is Boris stepping in to help the Greeks? Is the Donald? As for European nations themselves, only those under the hammer are responding. France and Germany should respond but won’t, their quisling ‘leaders’, voted back in by the population, do nothing. Niemoeller, people, Niemoeller. Is it even right to regard the Greeks as Europe’s defensive first line, Turkey as the new Ottoman wannabe, the invaders from othercountries as pawns?
https://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/2020/03/turkey-proves-refugees-are-weapon-treat-them-one-daniel-greenfield/ Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu has, with sublime chutzpah, kept a running count of the number of Muslim migrants invading Europe through Adrianople (renamed Edirne by its Turkish Islamic occupiers) on his Twitter account. At last count, the number of invaders was 100,577. Soylu’s tweets are the equivalent of sending ransom notes while holding a gun to the head of the EU. That 100,000 is a down payment. Turkey’s Islamist regime is threatening an invasion of millions. And NATO is absolutely helpless to stop a NATO country from masterminding an invasion of Europe. Way to go, methinks, use nature: Politics & economicsTELEPHONE

13, 2020 • 0 Comments The history of the making of the telephone is not one which readily springs to mind but if you’re a bakelite fan, this is your article: In the earliest phones, wood was the most common construction material. It was easy to work and a reasonable insulator, and finished well. Parts that would take a lot of wear were usually constructed from nickel-plated brass, as it cast easily, was a soft metal to finish, and the nickel plate gave it a tough corrosion-resistant finish. Other metals were tried with various degrees of success. Cast white metal gearwheels were fairly common, and pressed, stamped or folded steel or even cast iron made an appearance in items like switchhooks. Bell Telephone Manufacturing Company in Antwerp started using a comparatively new metal, aluminium, in pillars and cradles in the late 1890s. All these materials had their problems … And so it goes on, good article.
