Services for Adults. Individuals with FASD may need help in every aspect of their life. There are no consistent systems in place that assist those living with FAS. It is difficult for adults to receive services from developmental disability agencies unless they have met the eligibility criteria before 22 years of age. There is No Safe Amount Any amount of alcohol, even one glass of wine, passes from the mother to the developing baby. Wine, beer, or distilled spirits (vodka, rum, tequila, etc.) all pose a risk. Developing Babies and Alcohol Developing babies have the same blood alcohol concentration as their mother, but they lack the ability to process or metabolize alcohol.
