A student-led assembly is an excellent way to launch a Not In Our School (NIOS) campaign. This kit provides examples of activities and resources that can be adapted to any school, grades K-12. Not In Our School Anti-Bullying Launch Assembly Kit Not In Our NOT IN OUR TOWN: LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS (CONDENSED VERSION Not In Our Town: Light in the Darkness is a documentary about a town coming together to take action after anti-immigrant violence devastates the community. In 2008, a series of attacks against Latino residents of Patchogue, New York, culminate in the murder of Marcelo Lucero, an Ecuadorian immigrant who had lived in the Long Island village for 13 years. OUR FAMILY: A NEW SHORT FILM THAT CELEBRATES FAMILY Our Family has a clear purpose: to show children in grades K-5 that there are many kinds of families, to help them appreciate their own family configuration, and to be open to those who are different from them. The film and activities are also designed to open conversation, encourage constructive dialogue, and to give children the opportunity to share about their own families in a supportive SIX SIMPLE SOLUTIONS TO BULLYING With Not In Our School, move into action for a safe, accepting and inclusive school.Six simple solutions:If you are being bullied: tell them to stop, get away from the situation, and tell a trusted adult.If you see someone being bullied, be an upstander: Tell the person to stop, get a trusted adult, reach out and be friends.With your children: Listen and support your children. BULLYING AND DROPPING OUT: IS THERE IS A CONNECTION? "A school where children don't feel safe is a school where children struggle to learn. It is a school where kids drop out, tune out, and get depressed. Not In Our Town is a movement to stop hate, racism and bullying, and build safe, inclusive communities for all. OUR FAMILY | NOT IN OUR TOWN In Our Family, children share stories about all kinds of families. Today's children come from families living in one home or two, some are being raised by one mom or one dad, or they might have two parents/caregivers or live with grandparents or other family members. Others have parents/caregivers of different ethnic backgrounds, or who are lesbian, gay, bisexual or UPSTANDER | NOT IN OUR TOWN An upstander is an individual who sees wrong and acts.
