There is an irrefutable law of history – revival and missions go hand in hand in the wake of long term, corporate, unified prayer. God has been faithful to His word (Joel 2:12-17 with 28-32 & Acts 1 with2:1-21).

Have you ever prayed prayers and then freaked out when God answered? Especially when you know you did ask Him. I know I have, many a time. A classic one comes to mind that many have prayed over the last few years, and now find themselves smack bang in the middle of the answer. Have you ever prayed this one as you sang along? "Spirit, lead me where my trust is without boarders, let me walk upon the waters, wherever you would lead me. Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander, and my faith will be made stronger, in the presence of my Saviour." (Thank you Hillsong united) I believe the Lord gave the church that prayer and song for a season to bring His people into a new moment of His plans and purposes in the earth (but that is for another post). The point of what I'm trying to get across is that it always sounds romantic to pray prayers like that, until He actually answers and you find yourself in the middle of the proverbial ocean. Ever been there? Are you there right now? It can be unnerving to find yourself in a new and unfamiliar environment. It can be like being in a boat in the middle of the ocean and the wind has stopped. Your sails are up, but the wind and momentum that took you there seems to have stopped and slowed. Questions can rise to unsettle you. Will God really come through? Did I really hear Him right? Am I really in the right place? Did God really say? Hmm… sounds familiar to another question I know of (Genesis 3:1). But the fact of the matter is, even though your in the unknown, deep down inside, your heart is burning and the peace of God is flooding your soul in a way that is contrary to all natural circumstance. This gives you the courage to keep pressing through even though your in a place you never thought you would be. It's in this place that God is teaching you trust. Radical, hope filled, trust. Confidence that is based, not on what you see, but on what you know is on the inside (Isaiah 11:3-5) It's in this place that God is teaching you to rest in hearing His still small voice, not in being moved by the noise, or silence, around about you. It's in this place that He begins to lead us as sons and daughters, like He lead His own Son Jesus, based on His Fatherly counsel, wise leadership and radical, unreasonable love. So don't lose heart. Even though you think it's quiet and it seems like He's not speaking that much, He's always speaking (Revelation 4:5; John 16:13-14). He's just wanting you to dial down into that inner place of confidence where you hear Him speak like Jesus heard Him speak in the early hours on the mountain (Mark 1:35). As the words of the song say, He's making your faith stronger as you learn to trust the presence of your Saviour wherever He leads you. He's teaching you the way of following Him like Jesus did. He's teaching you to live from the same anchor point that Jesus lived from. So take heart. Your right where you need to be and not a moment outside of His perfect timing. Remember, He's God, He's big, and He's really good at leading people who put their full trust in Him. He will speak to you in the perfect timing to lead you into the next season. You along with millions of others are in the same place. They sang the words, and meant it; and the Lord heard, and the Lord answered. It may seem like a new path your on, but in reality, it's just the next part of the pathway He's had you on. The difference between our perspective and Gods is that we usually see in compartments, boxes and phases. We think that if it's been one way, then it's always going to be that way. But that is not how He sees things. He sees the long game and the different seasons we go through as a whole and so He is not intimidated by the changes we face like we are. When we're following Him, He see's how they all fit together into the grand scheme of His purpose. He is the God who works ALL THINGS according to the counsel of His Will for our lives (Ephesians 1:11). It's when we step back, dial down and begin to listen for His voice again, that we can begin to see the big picture, His perspective. He sees the end from the beginning and He knows exactly what He is doing. So if you find yourself in the middle of an ocean, and it feels like there's no paddles, and it feels like the wind has stopped, just begin to rest again, enjoy Him in the moment right where you are & begin afresh to delight yourself in the Lord. He has set a table for you there (Psalm 23:5). He WILL give you the desires of your heart as you keep trusting and keep resting and keep delighting in Him (Psalm37:4).

3 — STRENGTHENED BY GLORY _But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit (Jude 20)._ AROUND 2007, I WAS CHALLENGED as I read a devotional book on prayer and fasting. The author, Mike Bickle, mentioned how he would read and pray through Revelation 4 and 5 (which describes God's throne room in heaven), verse-by-verse, while praying in the Spirit for one hour a day. This stirred me, as I wanted my heart to come alive with the beauty of God as mentioned in these chapters as well. I committed to do the same for as long as it took to understand these passages. As I began, the language about God’s throne room seemed confusing and a little strange. Angels, four living creatures covered in eyes, fire and lightning…etc At the time, I couldn’t quite see the wonder and glory of what John was describing, but I resolved to keep this up. I stuck with it for about a year and a half. As I did this, God began to transform my life in the most amazing way. My heart began to come alive and God's word began to burn in my spirit. Day by day, as a prayed and read through these verses, I began to see a little bit more of the majestic beauty of what John described when he saw heaven. PRAYING IN THE SPIRIT Over the course of that time, doing this nearly everyday, I was beginning to encounter the reality of the One who is seated on the real throne, ruling from a real heaven and over our real earth. My heart began to explode with a vision of His greatness. As I saw His glory and the “beauty of His holiness,” living in godliness became the only logical way for me to live. Of course I was not perfect, sinless, or without fault, but walking out holiness in my life became so much easier. It was an offering of joy from an overflowing heart, not out of drudgery or legalism. Living before the audience of One became my greatest desire as I began to comprehend how this glorious God viewed my life. As I connected with the fact that the God of all heaven and earth knew who I was, I was left undone in the most profound way. My life as a Christian was beginning to be an exhilarating life of godliness and confidence which overflowed with joy as I experienced the glories of my Father in heaven. It gave me a new boldness in prayer. I had fresh faith and confidence in praying for the sick. I felt empowered to step out and tell people about Jesus with confident expectation that God would move in power. As a result of this, I started to see a few people get saved and healed and set free on the streets of Tauranga when I stepped out in faith to tell them about the goodness of Jesus. Some of these people, after meeting Jesus, even got filled with the Holy Spirit right there and then. From that time, people have been healed in gyms and saved on roads sides. He is just that good. As I prayed for these people, I was fully confident my Father in heaven was going to move in power _through_ me, and He did. I didn’t always see Him do something instantly, or hear that any thing had happened at all, but that didn’t matter. I knew Who was watching me, what He felt as I walked with Him in faith, and that was all that mattered. I had begun to experience a little “down payment” of God’s desire to partner with me in releasing His kingdom on the earth – a promise and privilege given to all believers. The apostle Paul talked about this when he said that we are built up and strengthened in our inner man as we pray in the Spirit while meditating on God’s word. It was simply the sowing and reaping principle in operation. What we put in, is what we get out and when were filled up with Him, His love and goodness begins to overflowwherever we go.
A STRENGTH IN LOSS
As I continued meditating on Revelation 4 and 5 in that season, there was another poignant moment that impacted me. In May 2009, I was invited to lead worship at a healing conference on the beautiful Kapiti Coast of New Zealand near Wellington. I was excited because this was the first time I had been invited as the main worship leader for a conference. It was an honour and privilege for me to go somewhere outside my community to lead others into God’s presence. I was about 22 years old at the time, so I thought I’d hit the bigtime!
A few days before I was to leave, however, I received a phone call that changed everything. It was news that one of my closest and dearest family members, my Granddad, had just suffered a stroke and was left severely brain-damaged and incapacitated. I was close to him so this shook me to my core. He had played an important role of bringing me back to Jesus through his prayers and words of grace. Even at my worst, during my teenage years when I was running from God, he always showed me kindness as he spoke the truth and called me to Jesus. It took me a while, but through him, and many others, Jesus drew me back to Himself. Now, doctors said he had only a few days to live, at best, in light of the severity of the stroke. This news cut deep as I thought about what had happened to him. His prognosis was not good. He couldn’t speak and didn't understand what was going onaround him.
A day passed, and as it neared the time for me to leave for the conference in Wellington, my parents called to inform me that he'd began to decline rapidly and that he would not make it past the night. His body had begun to shut down and the doctors confirmed he would likely die before the day was out. There was an option before me: should I go to the conference and lead worship, or do I return home to Christchurch to be with my family during his last moments on this earth? As I questioned, prayed, and reasoned with the Lord and my own heart about this, I felt peace in my soul that I should go lead worship and then return home after the conference. My parents affirmed that this is what my Granddad wouldhave wanted.
William Pearson, my Granddad, had been a preacher, pastor, pioneer, and a revivalist in New Zealand for around 65 years. God called him decades earlier from his homeland of Wales to help plant churches in and around New Zealand for the Apostolic Church. When he left his life behind in Wales, my Granddad made the long and arduous journey to New Zealand with His wife and young family, knowing full well he might not return for decades. But he and his young wife, along with my mum and her sister, had counted the cost and saw it as nothing compared to wonder of gaining Jesus and his great calling. He knew what God was capable of doing through people who were wholly His and so he came to New Zealand with a dream to see God move in this land in the way he had heard of God's work in the welsh revival of the early 1900's. When I truly found the Lord at 18 years of age (or should I say, when He truly found me) and I began to hear stories of his great faith and sacrifice for the Lord’s purposes, he quickly became one of my heroes in the faith. People talked of the moves of God he had been a part of, and the miracles, salvations, and healings that God worked through his ministry in New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, the USA, the South Pacific, South East Asia, and Europe. He had seen crippled legs healed, deformed backs straighten, tumours sovereignly removed from people’s bodies, the power of drug and alcohol addictions broken, and those in demonic bondage completely set free by the miraculous healing power of Jesus. He was a godly, courageous, and gracious man who left house and home to serve God in a foreign land. He had seen awakenings and miracles, revivals and healings. He had seen people come and people go—those who stayed the course, and those who did not. He had seen the pain of suffering in valleys—losing his wife to cancer when she was around 60 years old—and the glories of mountaintop victories as multitudes of people were saved, healed, delivered, and discipled. Through it all, he lived a life of devotion and faithfulness to Jesus. He had seen the Kingdom of God powerfully built and expanded in his day. Now he was about to go be with his Lord. As I drove to Wellington that day, it was no victory march as I reflected on the above. My heart was tender and heavy as I knew he was about to pass away and that I would probably not see him this side of eternity. I can remember a few moments that night nearly breaking into tears as I led worship at the conference, but somehow I was able to hold them back just enough to finish my set. I was privileged to see the Lord bring His people into freedom that night as the ministry teams prayed for the delegates. Waves of joy comforted my grieving heart, even in the midst of this painful moment. God was breaking chains and setting the captives free and as our praises rose in worship to the King that night, so did my Granddad. I got home and heard the news that he had passed into glory. As I thought about this and the reality of his passing, I had a revelation. I saw that this life is as temporal as a breath. I was struck with the reality of sin, the fruit of living in a fallen world that eventually brings death, and the wonder of our redemption in Christ that rescues us from it's clutches. What gave me solace was the fact that I knew where my Granddad was. He was standing before throne of his God—the very throne that I had been studying and meditating on for the few years leading up to that moment. My Granddad was now looking at this glorious One upon that brilliant, crystal-clear ocean we read about in Revelation 4:6, enveloped in the all-consuming fire of God’s breathtaking beauty and all-powerful grace and goodness. As the news of his passing began to sink in, I retired to my room to thank the Lord and shed some tears in private. In those moments I felt the fragility of my own heart, the impermanence of this life, and the preciousness of my Granddad’s devotion to God. I began to seek the Lord by asking some questions. I needed something to give me clarity about why God had allowed him to pass away while I was leading worship at a healing conference. I knew their was purpose in it, I just couldn't see it. I needed something tangible to anchor my heart on. I sought the Lord for understanding. As I was seeking God, wondering why He had chosen to withhold His healing hand this time, all I could do was read through Revelation 4 and 5 again and worship Him. My heart was inextricably drawn there. I had dug a small well in these chapters over the years and I knew I needed to drink from it once again.Report this ad
At first it seemed as if the water of revelation had dried up. But soon my spirit began to come alive again and the well began to fill. As I kept speaking these verses out with gratitude and worship, my heart began to burn with His presence and perspective came. After about twenty minutes or so, I felt His life released from the words I was reading. It felt like His living water filled my heart. Each phrase about God’s glory and beauty gave me strength and comfort, vision and courage to see that death was only a moment and not the end. For my Granddad, his passing was only the beginning. All the so-called clichés I had ever heard began to take on substance and became real. Things were not over. They had only just begun! In that moment when my heart needed comfort, God’s word became more alive than ever before, and His glory became the sustaining factor that carried me through. Why was it a situation of trial and loss that brought these things into greater clarity? Perhaps the veil between the reality of God’s glory and our experience of it is removed by the desperate hunger we feel in such times of need. Perhaps situations that cause us to take our eyes off of our natural circumstances as the centre point of our hope, cause us to truly find them in God. There maybe many reasons why God draws near in times of vulnerability, but what I do know is that with a humble and contrite heart, and faith stirring deep within my bones, God met me in that moment like I had never known. He gave me more than I could have asked for. I was seeking for understanding, but He gave me Himself. He consumed me. I found myself caught up in His word where all I could do was sing about His goodness and majesty. I was not caught up in a vision like John, or given a dream like Daniel, or a trance like Peter, but His word came alive on the inside, and that was the greatest gift of all. I felt more connected to Him than ever before. I was comforted in His presence where life and glory never ends—in the presence of God Himself—and I hungered for more. . . much more.
Since that time, I have learned a valuable lesson. Through the ups and downs of life and ministry, knowing His grace and glory is the only thing that can keep our faith strong and hearts alive. In times of victory and blessing or severe testing and trial, it’s His beauty that keeps us focused and steady. It shows us our true reward. It anchors in a place that can never be shaken. Over the years since then, I have turned to these pages countless times, and as I connect with the truths of God’s beauty and power found there, my heart is strengthened and my vision expanded afresh each time. Times of loss are never easy, especially with the death of loved ones. But it was this moment that taught me something powerful. It doesn’t matter what type of storm we go through. If we can “taste and see” that the Lord is good by encountering His love and glory, His power and beauty, His grace and majesty, His wisdom and sovereign hand over our lives that is leading us into a glorious future (that ultimately concludes and begins afresh at His throne!) — we can face anything! You may be facing an unimaginable storm right now as you’re reading this. You may have been sideswiped by some tragedy and find yourself in a deep valley. It might be the tragic loss of a loved one. It could be the collapse of a business dream you’ve held on to for years. A relationship might be over. A health crisis might be chasing you down. But know this, friend: in the midst of your valley, your God has not abandoned you, nor has He left you powerless in the storm. Even now He is leading you into your future—a glorious life beyond description. He is faithful to complete what He started and He is bringing you into His plans and purposes for your life as you take His word in faith and begin to declare it back to Him and into your circumstances. If you can just let His word and promises bind your heart to His, and if you can just cast your heart and mind into the glorious promises of His word, you will not be disappointed. Jesus said that you can take His word and speak to your mountain until it is cast into the sea. It may be dark at present; you may feel like it’s over or that you just cannot keep moving forward through this valley. But let me tell you something: you are called to bring heaven to earth. The same atmosphere that is around God in heaven right now He wants to release into your circumstances . . . at the sound of your voice! There is coming a day where every shadow will flee away, where Jesus’ glory will break through the clouds of despair and heaviness as He establishes His victory in your heart and circumstances. As you read these coming chapters, I encourage you to take note of the verses or themes that move your heart. Write them down and turn them into prayer, simple conversation with God. This is what my Granddad did throughout his life and why I believe he had such an amazing, fruitful walk with His Father in heaven. He would read the Word of God, take note of what the Holy Spirit highlighted to him, and then go back to study each passage and pray them back to the Lord. There is infinite strength awaiting you as we journey into this study in the coming chapters of Revelation 4 and 5. May you be strengthened as you drink deeply from this living well of hope as you begin to see the One all of heaven adores.–

GRACE

Because of the cross there's forgiveness. Because of His resurrection, there's. So. Much. Grace. It's more amazing than we can imagine and more powerful than you can dream. When you truly touch it, you'll never want to touch sin again. So what is it? Nearly every single book in the New Testament from Acts to Revelation opens & closes with the same statement: "Grace to you from God our father and the Lord Jesus Christ." God is saying something through this. More on that below, but first, what is grace? According to Strong's concordance, biblically speaking, the original Greek word ("charis") simply means that which affords joy, pleasure and delight; goodwill, benefit, gift & favour. That it is "the merciful kindness by which God, exerting his holy influence upon souls, turns them to Christ, keeps, strengthens, increases them in Christian faith, knowledge, affection, and kindles them to the exercise of the Christian virtues." (Strongs G5485). And I would add that it empowers all of the spiritual gifts such as healing, the working of miracles, prophecy, dreams, visions, faith…etc It originates in God and flows toward us in Jesus Christ. It is gift. It is free. It is the apex of Gods design for human history. That through His Son, the world would experience His undeserved goodness, favour, forgiveness and acceptance back into relationship with Him. We cannot earn it by our good works or be disqualified from it by our sin (it doesn't mean we can continue in sin once we've experienced it. Absolutely not. It simply means that our past cannot disqualify us & that even our worst stumblings to the present and future point cannot keep us from it, if we'll get back up and keep pressing into His heart to receive His goodness). We simply enter into it by faith. See, grace is not contingent upon our good works or bad. It is contingent upon faith in Jesus – a gift that God gives to human hearts. So if you feel it stirring inside of you, reachout to Him.
It is the promised free gift of salvation for our entire being, spirit, soul, mind, will, emotions and body. From the beginning of time till just before Jesus birth, God spoke of this amazing gift of grace for thousands of years (Genesis 3:15 – Jeremiah 30-31 – Malachi 4:2-5. That it would empower humanity to walk into a life of big hearted freedom in His ways. That we would no longer want or remain enslaved to the things that used to bind us – fears, addctions and sins of all manner. That any and every chain of addiction – whether chemical or emotional – would be broken by His goodness in a moment. But still, so many people, even genuine believers, walk around carrying the restricting memories & issues of their past (secret sins, fears, attitudes, mindsets…etc) because they don't yet KNOW and truly LIVE in this foundational New Testament truth… but it doesn't have to be that way. All it requires is the simplicity of faith to enter in. A faith that is born and stirred up by a confidence in His unfailing character & goodness toward us in Jesus. He's still the same today as the day He provided His Son on the cross. He's still the same God who raised Him up and gave Him the name above every other name, "so that at the name of Jesus, every knee would bow" (Philippians 2). He's still the same God who can save ANYBODY in ANY CIRCUMSTANCE like He saved the Apostle Paul, the man who used to approve of killing the saints; the man who went on to say that "by GRACE through FAITH (simply believing) you have been SAVED, and THAT not of yourselves. It is the FREE GIFT of God, lest anyone should boast." (Eph 2) Paul was a man of great stature in his time. He oversaw and commissioned legal havoc on Christians. He sought to crush the church and imprison the gospel. But when he saw the risen Lord on the Damascus road, everything changed. His life was transformed, the power of sin was broken and the incredible guilt of all he'd done against Jesus and His people was washed from his conscience. That is stunning and that is why he said: "by the grace of God, I am what I am." He went on to write much of the New Testament and preached the faith he once tried to destroy. Why? Grace. It's just that good. This is what grace does. It changes, transforms and empowers the impossible. It forgives, heals and raises up. It seats us with Jesus in a place of perspective and authority over all the power of the enemy and all the memory of our past (Ephesians 2:1-7). Our souls are liberated as we walk into a glorious future of hope (an expectation of good) and purpose that has already been prepared by Him. Sin and evil is ripped out of our hearts as His love flows in and the same forgiveness we receive is enabled to flow through us like a river to those who've done wrong to us (Mt 5:44). As I mentioned earlier, almost every book in the New Testament opens and closes with a statement of God's grace toward us. Thus we can see that EVERYTHING He does, from beginning to end, is from a heart of grace. Paul wrote in Romans: for from Him and through Him and to Him are all things (Romans 11:36). This means that what He began in us, He will finish (Philippians 1:6). He is the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). Therefore to Him be all the glory. Posted in Uncategorized| Leave a

MERCY: A CRUCIFIED KING Posted on July 23, 2017by nickbadger

There is so much mercy. The verse I'm reminded of is when Jesus looked over Jerusalem. He'd been sent from heaven as the Fathers answer to all of humanities needs and longings, especially that of salvation from the power and guilt of sin. And in fulfilment of all the words of God from Adam to the end of the Old Testament, He'd been sent as Israels and the earths promised King. The One the prophets spoke of for thousands of years before He came on the scene. But now, He was there, in the flesh, fully grown as a man of about 30, standing on a hill, fully God and looking over the city who was destined to recieve Him. And as He looked over that city of Jerusalem, He wept. In this moment, a few days out from His crucifixion, where He would pay the ultimate price for the weight of humanities sin, He wept. Why? He was not weeping in self pity or even over the fact that He would die. Far from it. He knew He was going to die. He knew that for this purpose He had come to the earth (John 12)! Why then did He weep? As He looked over the city He loved, He understood the consequences of those who chose to remain without Him & His heart yearned within Him. In that moment He called to mind his nations history and said in Matthew 23:37 "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and YOU WERE NOT WILLING! 38 See, your house is left to you desolate (speaking of the devastations Rome would accomplish in AD 70 and also the spiritual barrenness of the nation without Him). 39 For I tell you, you will not see me again, until you say, 'Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.'" He called to mind that His friends, the prophets, the messengers of the Fathers heart, had been killed there, and soon, in like manner, so would He. But even though He knew His own had rejected Him and would crucify Him, He still desired mercy, not judgment. A few days after, when He was hung on the cross, bleeding and torn, He said something that changed history forever. He released a torrent of mercy and forgiveness into the earth, that TO THIS DAY is still winning hearts, transforming nations and mending the broken. Luke, a young doctor who had followed Jesus for 3 1/2 years during his ministry, described the moment and said that when they had come "to the place that is called The Skull, there they crucified him, and the criminals, one on his right and one on his left. And Jesus said, "FATHER, FORGIVE THEM, FOR THEY KNOW NOT WHAT THEY DO." And they cast lots to divide his garments. (Luke 23:33-34) That is super human. No mere man could have said such things. "Father, forgive them…" THIS is the heart of our King and this is the power of mercy. John declared that Jesus did not come to condemn the world, but that through Him, the world might be saved (John 3:16-18). Not for those who have no need of a Saviour, but for the worst of the worst, the darkest of the dark, the ones who you and I think LEAST deserve it. Simply, the ones who know their need. Through Him, THEY, most ofall, can be saved.
This whole story shows us something amazing. That He does not move in judgment or rage and anger the moment we offend Him. He is slow to anger. So slow to anger in fact, that in nailing Him to a cross, He still showed how deep and free and gracious His love really was and is. That you can nail Him there and He will still forgive you. Because in that moment, He showed you and I, that He was willing to hold His arms open to us no matter what we (you, I and all humanity) would do. It is almost incomprehensible. In fact it is. And that is why Paul prayed that we would have supernatural strength, an ability beyond ourselves, to comprehend how deep and wide and high and far reaching the love of Christ is! He said that it is unsearchable, & yet to us who believe, it is freely given, if we'll receive it! Do you need mercy today? Then cry out. He is MORE than willing to meet you and set you free, Right. Where. You. Are. This He's done and this He'll do, saying "be free! Go, and sin no more." Posted in Uncategorized| Leave a

A DOORWAY OF GRACE

What do you do when there's roadblocks, especially internal ones? … Simply remember that God is big hearted. There is no limit to the extent to which His grace and mercy can heal and transform and restore and empower and give back what has been taken or broken. "For where sin abounded, grace abounded much more." (Romans 5:20) The implication of the original Greek here, is that where sin and darkness left a deep and felt mark on our lives, His grace super-abounds in that veryplace.
In the darkest, worst and most broken situations, God loves to display Himself there. He gives beauty for ashes and crowns with glory and honour (Psalm 9 & Isaiah 62). The scriptures says that He gives the very places of our greatest compromise and sin as a doorway of hope to us (Hosea 2:15). This means that our darkest places are to become the places where we can expect the greatest measures of His goodness to flow into our lives. Grace, like water, always rushes to the lowest place. It just finds its way there. See, He's not afraid of brokenness, shame or guilt as if He's shocked by it or doesn't know about it. The only one who is surprised by the skeletons in our closets is us, not Him. He sees it all and is simply waiting for us to take the mask of pretence off and let Him in. John 4 tells us that He is looking for worshippers who will adore Him in spirit and truth. This means that He simply wants people to open their hearts to respond to His beauty in the way the scriptures talk about Him; in the way that our experience of His goodness has proved Him to be. But to worship God in spirit and truth also means that we worship Him in the vulnerability of an open and honest heart without pretence. God is not impressed by a sense of religious duty. He simply wants open, faithful & committed hearts who won't draw back, no matter what they find inside. Will you give Him that gift today and open the doorsto His grace?

I want to encourage you today that there is so much more. So. Much. More. For you, your family and everything that concerns you. Whether your a missionary on the front lines, a stay at home mum or dad, or a business man or woman in the market place, I truly believe that God is wanting to encourage you to believe for more. More breakthrough. More favour. More anointing. More resource and more increase in all that you are putting you hand to for the sake of His name. There's some profound statements in scripture where God declares that his purpose over our lives is "glory to glory" (2 Corinthians 3:18) "strength to strength" (Psalm 84:5-7) & "faith to faith." (Romans 1:16-17). That means that your designed and destined to go from strength to strength and victory and victory, not bummer to bummer andblunder to blunder.
God is committed to taking us on a journey into the experience of what He means by "glory to glory." There is more! Where are you now, and where are you headed? Ask Him. Posted in Uncategorized| Leave a

H O L Y S P I R I T – 1ST THINGS Posted on November 6, 2015by nickbadger

The Holy Spirit can be a confusing subject. Even in the church. Some think, like Elvis, He’s left the building. Others think He’s the only one we should talk about _in_ the building. In light of that, I want to start off with a brief look at what the Word says about Him & what He’s called to do. This will by no means be exhaustive, but I trust a little helpful on your journey. F I R S T L Y – W H O I S H E ? He’s a real person filled with all the goodness and warmth of genuine personality and affection. He is the kindest, most powerful, most joyful, most glorious, most Holy Being in existence along with the Father and the Son – He is God. We read in Galatians 5:22 (which we’ll look at in greater detail in a few session) that part of His job description is to cause all who believe in Jesus to bear certain fruits in their characters, natures and personalities. Those fruits are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness (and) self control…” But before we get to the joy of growing in these things as believers, we must understand that the only reason He causes those virtues to come forth in our lives is because He _is _those things in Himself. Let me explain. The only way we can influence someone around us to have more joy or courage or gladness, is to first have those things in our lives and words and actions…etc We cannot give people courage and joy and gladness if we are scared, sad and mad. It just doesn’t work that way. In the same way, the Holy Spirit only produces those amazing things – like joy, courage and gladness – because He is those things, and when He comes to dwell on the inside, He brings them allwith Him.
So Galatians 5:22-23 is firstly a description of who the Holy Spirit is and what He’s like as He relates to us. This means that He is loving, He is joyful and He is completely peaceful. He is patient with us as He leads us to grow into the fullness of what God has for our lives. He’s slow to anger like the Father and Jesus. He is altogether good and faithful and gentle towards us with the kindest of intentions toward everything that concerns us and His purpose for our lives. He is eternally faithful and committed to us and His purpose in the earth. He is the unshakeable expression of self-control – He uses all of His resources and glory and beauty and power and kindness to serve the purposes of God to exalt Jesus and make His people ready for His glorious return. His first name, as we know it, is Holy. That means He is glorious and pure and righteous and morally upright in His essential nature, totally “other than” in His uniqueness. He is without sin or capacity for darkness or evil. And His second name is Spirit, which literally means the breath or internal reality of who God is. In the Hebrew language His name – “Ruach Ha-Kodesh” – literally means the spirit of holiness (the very spirit of God Himself who is holiness personified). Scripture also reveals that there is no diminished level to His glory in comparison to God the Father or God the son. He is fully God, existing and living in perfect union with the Father and Son (Mt 28:18-19; 2 Cor 3:17). SECONDLY – WHAT DOES HE DO He loves to glorify Jesus. The beating zeal of His heart is to make Jesus known in the earth, especially to the people of God, His church. His passion is to exalt the gospel and to invite and draw people to Jesus by faith as they hear preaching (or coffee conversation) about who Jesus is and what He’s done and what’s He’s doing in the earth. He is “all about” showing us the unshakeable, nation changing truth of the life, death, resurrection and certain return of Jesus so that we can grow in love for God and each other with free hearts, clear minds and liberated spirits that are alive in his grace and power. Lets take a look at John 16 to describe how He glorifiesJesus to us.
_John 16:13-15_ says _“When the Spirit of truth (Holy Spirit) comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears (the Father and Son speaking about) he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. 14 HE WILL GLORIFY ME, FOR HE WILL TAKE WHAT IS MINE AND DECLARE IT TO YOU. 15 All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.”_ _Romans 8:32 says “He who did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us allthings.”_
It’s hard not to love someone who continually shows you kindness, gives you good-things, pays your debts, empowers your heart with encouraging words, gives you His resources and then gives you a seat of honour at an amazing banquet. The Holy Spirit knows this. Human beings are drawn to kindness. He designed us that way. That’s why Paul said in Romans 2:4, it is the kindness of God that leads men to repent. So in light of the fact that Jesus has done infinitely more for us than even the most loyal of friends, and in light of the fact that God’s passion is to cause and invite His people to love Him more (Mt 22:37-40), the Holy Spirit’s favourite thing to do is to take those things which Jesus has done for us and the promises He’s given us through His Word and to cause us to experience them in the here and now so that we can grow in love for Him, ourselves and each other. That really is His goal – as Jesus described it – to make God known that we might experience Him and delight in all the goodness of what He reveals (Rom 5:5). This sounds almost scandalous in it’s implications! How can God be that good and gracious and generous to us? It’s simply because He is that good and that’s just who He is and how He works. No wonder the Psalmist said “The Lord is good and His steadfast love endures forever!” (Ps 136). Therefore as Paul said – “The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and _the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all._” (2 Corinthians 13:12) Here is a prayer based on John 16:13-15 you can pray to help activate your faith toward that fellowship (conversation and connection) with the Holy Spirit. _“Holy Spirit, I thank you in Jesus name, that you are kind, gracious, loving and filled with joy and goodness toward me. Show me Jesus’ glory I pray. Show me the glory of my Father in heaven. Speak to me what your hearing the Father and Son speaking about me right now (John 16:13). Speak to me about those things which are to come – in my life, in my family, in my city and in the nations (John 16:13). Take what belongs to Jesus and reveal those things to me. He said that everything the Father has, belongs to Him, and He said that You would reveal them to me, so I ask you Holy Spirit, show me what Jesus has done for me, what He’s given me and what I have access to by faith in Him (John 16:14). Cause me to grow love for God as you reveal these things to me, in Jesus name, amen._” Its really is that simple. All you need to do is speak simple phrases to the Holy Spirit. Use the Word of God to help you. It’s like a divine road map or prayer manual. Every phrase and promise is like an onramp into His heart. Ask Him questions. Give Him time to answer. You’ll be amazed at what He speaks. Write it down. Keep it somewhere you can refer to later – like a diary or smart-phone notepad or computer document. After a while, you will begin to develop a treasury of promises and words He’s spoken to you. And as Bill Johnson says, “If He’s not talking to you, talk to Him about something He wants to talk about (His own Word).” Bless you and enjoy the journey.Enjoy the journey.
