Introduction The NFU has set the ambitious goal of reaching net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across the whole of agriculture in England and Wales by 2040. NFU HELPS SHAPE THE SLURRY INVESTMENT SCHEME The NFU has sent a paper to Defra contacts on what we would like to see from the planned Slurry Investment Scheme (SIS), with the aim of securing the best outcome possible for members. STUART ROBERTS, NFU DEPUTY PRESIDENT Stuart farms 120 hectares in Hertfordshire in partnership with his wife. A third generation arable and livestock farmer at Hammonds End Farm, Harpenden, Stuart has also worked for Defra and the Food Standards Agency and held senior management roles within the meatsupply chain.
NEW RULES: RIPARIAN VEGETATION MANAGEMENT Please note that you may need permission from the EA if undertaking another activity at the same time as vegetation management. The environmental permit requires operators to farm using Best Available Techniques (BAT).
