------------------------- A Public-Private Partnership at Work The National Mall is our nation’s foremost civic space and primary location for political demonstration, first amendment activities, rallies, parades, and festivals. Each year, millions of visitors of every race, nationality and faith come to the National Mall to demonstrate our rights, celebrate our freedoms, commemorate our history and culture, our unity and our diversity. But aging infrastructure, and rapidly increasing numbers of visitors and nearly 40 years of under-funding are taking their toll on the park. The Trust for the National Mall represents one of the largest public-private partnership in the history of the National Park Service and is responsible for bringing the NATIONAL MALL PLAN to life. The plan was approved by the Park Service in 2010, and contains a comprehensive blueprint and detailed action plan to enhance the National Mall's beauty, usefulness, and sustainability. WE MUST PROTECT THIS HISTORIC LANDSCAPE AND CREATE AN ENDURING AND ATTRACTIVE PLACE WORTHY OF OUR NATION’S PREMIER NATIONAL PARKS. LEARN ABOUT OUR PROJECTSGet Involved
As the official nonprofit partner of NPS, the Trust for the National Mall is committed to building a sense of stewardship for this iconicpark.
As part of the commitment, we are piloting a VOLUNTEER PROGRAM at specific sites on the National Mall. This is an excellent opportunity for those fascinated by history, and those who love meeting new people and enjoy spending time outdoors. This is also a great chance to gain valuable experience working at a national park.Become a Volunteer

Lockkeeper's House
Untouched for more than 40 years, the oldest structure on the National Mall has been the subject of a major restoration project for the past year and a half that has transformed the house into an educational and visitor contact location on the National Mall. Constitution Gardens, Phase 2 Following the grand reopening of the restored and relocated Lockkeeper’s House in fall of 2018, we look to address soaring National Mall visitation with the rehabilitation of Constitution Gardens and permanent interactive Lockkeeper’s House exhibit. Once fully restored, this under-utilized 36 acres of space will become a vibrant urban park with concessions and visitor amenities and will be a showcase for environmental sustainability. George Mason Memorial The rehabilitation of the George Mason Memorial is in its final stage. Once complete, the memorial will include a new central fountain, perennial plantings throughout the site and a refurbished George Mason statue, trellis and inscription.BloomCam
The Trust for the National Mall, The National Cherry Blossom Festival and the National Park Service are thrilled to announce the introduction of the #BloomCam, to allow people to virtually monitor DC’s famous budding cherry blossom trees along the Tidal Basin in real time as they bloom. German-American Friendship Garden Designed pro bono by Wolfgang Oehme in 1983, this small garden (350 x 60 feet) occupies a prominent place on the National Mall. > ““This great national treasure, with its iconic monument and > memorials, is so important to visit and experience. Why? Because if > people come here and see these things firsthand, they learn more > about our country’s heritage, inspiring them to read more about > our nation’s history and democracy, and in turn make them more > informed citizens.”> ”
