The residence is located on an elevated ground inclining towards north. Because the site was lower than the street and the north oblique line was stringent, we designed an open terrace on the north side for the residents to enjoy the view. However, homes facing north tend to be dark. If we tried to capture light from the south, which faces a road, we’d have issues such as exposure toOPTICAL GLASS HOUSE
This house is sited among tall buildings in downtown Hiroshima, overlooking a street with many passing cars and trams. To obtain privacy and tranquility in these surroundings, we placed a garden and optical glass façade on the street side of the house. The site faces Sagami Bay and is located above a shore where a 100-foot cruiser can be directly brought alongside. The site is located on an uninhabited island in the Seto Inland Sea. We were asked to create a place for beachgoers to spend time. There was no electricity, gas, or plumbing, and it was a challenge to bring in heavy machineries. We began by imagining ourselves casting ashore to an uninhabited island,and

Our client`s desire was not to cut woods in the site as much as possible and to live in the surrounding woods. Since the site is located in the midst of dense woods, we came up with the idea of having a high ceiling to let direct sunlight into the house. HOUSE C | HIROSHI NAKAMURA & NAP A weekend house on the Boso Peninsula coast. The site has views of grass fields and high cliffs of exposed strata. The owner, who usually lives in a high-rise condominium in the city, desired to spend the weekends in contact with the land. We therefore proposed to create a house that was continuous with the land, using site soil for the wallsand roof.
