We have Bible records, marriage certificates, Baptismal records, diaries, letters and more. Our library includes published vital records for almost every town in Massachusetts. CHILDREN’S MEMORIAL The Museum, as steward of the Edgartown Lighthouse, created the Children’s Memorial in 2001 to memorialize children who have left us too soon. People from all over the world have embraced the Memorial and aided in its development. The lighthouse is a working lighthouse illuminating the darkness and the children in the Memorial everynight.
HIDDEN COLLECTIONS WITH CHIEF CURATOR BONNIE STACY The Museum’s archives hold thousands of documents, postcards, maps, photographs, and other ephemera. They remain safely housed in climate controlled storage, with only a few examples used in temporaryexhibitions.

The objects collection at the Martha’s Vineyard Museum, donated or purchased over the past 80 years, includes over 30,000 items relating to all aspects of life on Martha’s Vineyard. Specific collection categories include: The library and archive collection spans every period of the Island’s history. THE RESEARCH LIBRARY The Research Library. The MVM Library is responsible for the Museum’s collections of texts and images — books, genealogical records, letters, logbooks, manuscripts, maps, newspapers, pamphlets, and photographs — along with its collections of audiovisual recordings and digital files. MV Museum loves the Island’s music scene and are thrilled to join WMVY Radio, Featherstone Center for the Arts, the Martha’s Vineyard Film Festival, and the YMCA of Martha’s Vineyard in presenting the Local Musicians Project this fall. EAST CHOP – MARTHA'S VINEYARD MUSEUM East Chop. Telegraph Hill. Address: 229 East Chop Avenue, Oak Bluffs. The East Chop Lighthouse is typically open seasonally on Sunday evenings around sunset.
