INDEPENDENT ARTIST NETWORK The Independent Artist Network is a statewide network of artists who have access to resources, professional development, and additional opportunities to connect further with artists and partners for future collaboration. From 2010 through 2017, John was Director of Maryland Citizens for the Arts, working to secure public funding for the arts in Maryland. While there, he helped raise state funding from $13.2 million to $22.7 million annually, bringing Maryland to the position of third in the nation in per capita arts funding. EMERGENCY GRANT FOR ARTS ORGANIZATIONS Emergency Grants for Arts Organizations provide funding to Maryland arts organizations, County Arts Agencies, and Arts & Entertainment Districts for losses sustained because of programming, operations, and events that have been modified or cancelled due to the COVID-19. MSAC LISTENING SESSION: HOW CAN WE HELP? A conversation with MSAC Executive Director, Ken Skrzesz about the needs of the arts sector during the COVID-19 State of Emergency. March 16, 2020. Arts constituents are invited to join any session to share input about the impact of the pandemic and recommendations for action by MSAC. Thursday, March 19, 3:00 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 7:00 p.m. INDEPENDENT ARTIST AWARD To Be Eligible. Applicants must: Be a Maryland resident or a collaborative group composed of Maryland residents. Demonstrate a history of producing original artwork. Be at least 18 years old. For the FY22 Independent Artist Awards, the application must be for the FOLKLIFE APPRENTICESHIP Applicants who are eligible for Folklife Apprenticeships are traditional artists who have resided in Maryland for at least six months. Master artists should be able to demonstrate vital contributions to a particular living cultural tradition in Maryland. Learner artists should be able to demonstrate some prior experience, a basic level of skillMARYLAND TRADITIONS
