HOW WE ASSESS RESIDENTIAL PROPERTIES To assess your residential property, we analyze the sales of similar properties that have sold in your area. Based on the sales information, there are five major factors that generally account for your property’s assessed value. Age of the buildings on the property. Total square footage of living area. CHANGING YOUR MAILING ADDRESS To request a change of mailing address, you must be the owner of the property, or an authorized representative. If you are not the property owner, you must include a formal letter of authorization from the owner or a Representative Authorization Form. The process. NO ASSESSMENT UPDATE THIS YEAR As part of the Ontario Government’s Budget on March 24, the Minister of Finance announced the Province’s decision to once again postpone a province-wide property assessment update due to INDUSTRIAL PROPERTY ASSESSMENTS For industrial property assessments, we use the cost approach toestablish value.
