Facilities Now Closed. First Aid – Due to COVID restrictions our Rangers are not currently administering first aid, unless a life threatening situation arises. WILDLIFE IN WILDLIFE Wildlife. Moors Valley has a mixture of habitats including coniferous forest, deciduous woodland, lakes, ponds, rivers, meadow and heathland which in turn support a huge variety of wildlife. The Moors River and Lakes are important habitats for wildlife. Resident birds on the lakes include Grey Herons and Great Crested Grebes as well as MallardsABOUT THE RANGERS
Education – Rangers lead over 5000 children in educational activities each year these include school groups, clubs and holiday events. Activities include bushcraft skills, pond dipping, fishing, cycling, tree studies, mini-beast hunts and orienteering. Recreation and lifestyle – the Rangers organise events to get people involvedin

Moors Valley is easily accessible by car, sign posted with brown tourist information signs from the A31 at Ashley Heath or approach roads from West Moors. MOORS VALLEY RAILWAY Moors Valley Railway. At Kingsmere station you can visit the model railway shop and the railway buffet for drinks and snacks. The following fish of quality size are regularly caught: Roach, Rudd, Tench, Perch and Dace. Moors Lake was dug in 1985, primarily to help control flooding along the lower reaches of the Moors River south of the Country Park; it is fed by the Moors River, which has a maximum depth of 2 metres, a natural clay bottom and covers an area of 9 acres. Moors Valley has a mixture of habitats including coniferous forest, deciduous woodland, lakes, ponds, rivers, meadow and heathland which in turn support a huge variety of wildlife. Facilities Now Closed. First Aid – Due to COVID restrictions our Rangers are not currently administering first aid, unless a life threatening situation arises. COACH AND MINIBUS CHARGES Updated 31 May 2021. Coach parking will be available from Monday June 21st, but only on weekdays outside of the Dorset school holidays.. Minibuses can now be booked Mondays through Sunday, including Dorset school holidays.. This decision has been made to ensure we can welcome back groups, including schools, in line with the changing government guidance, whilst also ensuring theACCESSIBLE CYCLING

You are welcome to walk on any of these paths however the best routes have been waymarked. The routes range in distance from 3/4 mile to 5 miles and are easy to follow. Cycling Trails. There are many miles of paths and tracks through Moors Valley Country Park and Forest. You are welcome to cycle on any of the gravel or tarmac paths however the best paths. for cycling are waymarked. Visitors are welcome to bring their own bikes from home or select from a wide selection of bikes including child bikes, trailers CYCLE HIRE - MOORS VALLEY Cycle Hire. Follow waymarked cycle routes, make your own route along the many miles of gravel tracks or explore beyond the boundaries of Moors Valley. Mountain bikes in all sizes along with trailers, tag-a-longs and child seats are available to hire every day of the year (except 25th Dec). Sorry – bikes cannot be reserved in advance. MOORS VALLEY SEASON TICKET Types of Season Ticket. 12 month All Hours season tickets are valid every day Moors Valley is open. 1 car – £65.00 or £6.50 per month direct debit. Households with 2 cars*, visiting 1 car at a time – £75.00 or £7.50 per month direct debit. Households with 2 cars*, visiting with both cars – £85.00 or £8.50 per month direct debit. Moors Valley is located on the Dorset / Hampshire border – two counties that offer fantastic countryside and visitor attractions to enjoy including the historic New Forest and the award-winning beaches at Christchurch and the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. Please be aware that some of our facilities and amenities have different opening hours. The Visitor Centre, including Seasons Restaurant is open from 9.00am to 4.30pm each day* (later in the summer). The Cycle Hire Centre opens daily at 9.30, please check the Cycle Hire Centre page to view last hire times. *The Visitor Centre may close for up to 5 midweek days in January for cleaning andFOOD AND DRINK

Moors Valley has a mixture of habitats including coniferous forest, deciduous woodland, lakes, ponds, rivers, meadow and heathland which in turn support a huge variety of wildlife. The Moors River and Lakes are important habitats for wildlife. Resident birds on the lakes include Grey Herons and Great Crested Grebes as well as Mallards CONSERVATION VOLUNTEERS Practical Conservation and Maintenance Volunteers. If you enjoy the outdoors and practical work, becoming a practical conservation volunteer may be just for you. With over 240 acres of parkland and 900 acres of forest to look after, the Ranger team are always looking for more hands-on individuals to join the volunteer force. HAWK WALKS - MOORS VALLEY Hawk Walks. Intimate falconry experiences to suit any level of confidence or knowledge. A hawk walk is a gentle stroll around the Forest with free flying hawks following on and flying to your gloved hand. The walk starts with an introduction where your guide introduces you to the hawks and give an induction on the equipment and hawkhandling.

History. This Drem-Q type bunker, known as Q160b, housed two generators to power a flare path of lights installed to the south. By mimicking the appearance of a real airfield at night, the lights were designed to draw enemy bombers away from nearby RAF Ibsley and RAF Hurn during World War II.
