HOW TO KEEP WATER IN YOUR HANGING PLANTER. Using a Dollar Store Bowl to keep water in your planters. Yup, a $1.00 plastic bowl did the job! When I watered the plant, the water stayed in the planter to moisten the soil and to let the plants absorb the water. It is important to drill some holes in the bottom. I just used a big drill bit to make three holes. MY HOUSE HAD KNOB AND TUBE WIRING. HERE IS HOW I UPDATED IT. My 100-year-old house had knob and tube wiring. In early 2018, I purchased a house "as is". It was a house sold through an estate and it had been lived in by three generations of one family. Both the good and the bad news was that it had not been updated. My biggest concern was that it had knob and tube wiring. Everywhere. PREVENTING WEEDS UNDER TREES This weekend I figured out that I should just use the cardboard around the tree base to prevent the weeds from growing under the trees. I took a cardboard box and split it in half and then cut out sections for the trunk. Then I pushed the cardboard under the tree branches. See the pine needles on the cardboard. Well they got everywhere. THREE INGREDIENT CHERRY COBBLER Instructions. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray 9 x 13 casserole dish with no-stick spray. Dump two cans of canned cherries into casserole dish. Dump cake mix evenly over the cherries. Thinly slice one stick of butter. The more slices, the better! Spread them on top of the cake mix. When I watered the plant, the water stayed in the planter to moisten the soil and to let the plants absorb the water. It is important to drill some holes in the bottom. I just used a big drill bit to make three holes. Planting my Autumn Sedum Joy cuttings. After about 2 to 3 weeks, they are ready to plant. I waited a little longer because it was just so hot and it's easier on new plants when the weather isn't really hot or really cold. I dug a hole about 3 times bigger than the stems. Then loosened the dirt around that hole. HARDWOOD FLOOR REFINISHING IN MY VINTAGE (100-YEAR-OLD Refinishing Hardwood floors in my vintage home. Turn your crock pot on high. Cook at least 6 hours. More is better than less. If you use a huge roast or two small ones, 6 lbs or so, use two packages of the gravy and dressing. Add a couple of hours onto the cooking time. When the meat is fork tender, put MY SUCCULENT BIRD BATH. It seemed like such a waste. I decided to make a succulent garden out of it. First, I added a thick layer of stones. The bird bath had no drainage and I was hoping that the stones would be enough to keep the water from the roots of the succulents. Then I just added some potting soil and mounded it a bit. Then I started planting. BITS & BITES, NUTS & BOLTS OR CHEX MIX Prep time: 15 minutes. With no permanent damage (i.e. nail holes) on my door. Yes, I've used the Command strip hooks to hang wreaths and various Christmas decorations quite successfully. However, I was at a loss as to how to hang two little signs on two interior wood doors. As I was wandering in the hardware store, I saw the Command Picture Hanging Strips. TOPSY TURVY CUPCAKES Topsy Turvy cupcakes were at the new breakfast/coffee place in town. They looked sooooo good. I was there with my golf bestie, Lori. Yes, we are the crazy ones who golf at 7am in the summer and don't feel like a cheeseburger at 10:30 so we go out for breakfast instead. STORING YOUR POOL SOLAR BLANKET FOR THE WINTER. You want to make sure the fabric is really secure around the solar blanket. You don't want it flapping and then having to refasten it in the winter. Also, you don't want to have any spots where a mouse can creep in and nest. Make sure the ends are really tightly secured. This was the easiest way to protect and store our pool solar blanket.
