The Museum of Arts and Sciences (MOAS) has dedicated a portion of the museum to the prehistory of Florida. This section of the Museum includes preserved insects and butterflies, shells and teeth, along with the remains of a giant ground sloth, mastodon, and glyptodont that were found in our own backyard! CUBAN FOUNDATION MUSEUM Cuban Foundation Museum. The Cuban Foundation Museum is home to one of the most important collections of Cuban fine and folk art outside of Cuba. The collection chronicles 300 years of Cuban history and art in more than 200 objects. Highlights include extremely rare eighteenth, nineteenth and early twentieth century maps, documents, lithographs JACOB LAWRENCE AND THE HARLEM RENAISSANCE Jacob Lawrence, 1917-2000, To Preserve Their Freedom, from Toussain L'Ouverture series, serigraph, 1988-1997. Beginning on February 2 and in honor of Black History month and the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the Harlem Renaissance, MOAS will have the exhibition, Jacob Lawrence: Three Print Series on view in the Karshan Center ofGraphic
GUILD OF THE MUSEUM OF ARTS & SCIENCES Guild of the Museum of Arts & Sciences. The Members of the Guild are an incredibly dynamic group whose mission is to promote the welfare of the Museum through its many programs and activities. The Guild offers members many opportunities to use their skills by working on many projects including The Halifax Art Festival and The Festival of Trees. THE SEMINOLE AND THE EVERGLADES The Seminole and the Everglades. The Everglades is a region of tropical wetlands that occupies the southern portion of Florida. Water leaving the vast, shallow Lake Okeechobee in the wet season forms a slow-moving river 60 miles wide and over 100 miles long. His popular image is based on traditions associated with Saint Nicholas, a 4th-century Christian saint, while Father Christmas fills the role in many European countries.
