DES YEUX AUX NON-VOYANTS Nos chiens aident les personnes non voyantes, malvoyantes, présentant à la fois une déficience visuelle ou auditive ou une déficience visuelle et motrice.

CHIEN POUR ENFANTS ATTEINTS DE TSA UNE FENÊTRE SUR LE MONDE AUX ENFANTS AUTISTES Après des années de recherche approfondies, Mira a lancé en 2010 un programme qui vient en aide aux jeunes présentant un trouble de l’autisme ainsi qu’à leur famille. Ces jeunes peuvent bénéficier des services d’un chien spécialement formé pour les

aider.

CHIEN D’ASSISTANCE UN COUP DE MAIN AUX GENS À MOBILITÉ RÉDUITE Les chiens d’assistances aident les individus ayant des déficiences motrices à jouir d’une plus grande autonomie. Ils viennent en aide à ces personnes ayant un handicap physique en tirant leur fauteuil

roulant.

LE RAMPEUR

Malgré la Charte des droits et libertés de la personne qui vise � les protéger, les bénéficiaires de chiens Mira sont régulièrement victimes de discrimination dans les lieux publics. Pourtant, refuser l’accès à quelqu’un en raison de son chien guide ou d’assistance, ça ne se fait pas.

Nous sommes dans une épicerie. On voit une allée vide. Au loin, on voit un homme ramper. On se rapproche de lui. Même si son déplacement semble pénible, son expression est neutre - comme si c’était normal. Puis, l’homme s’immobilise. Il s’appuie sur un bras et lève l’autre avec peine. De peine et de misère, il arrive à attraper un sac de pain placé en hauteur. Il continue son chemin. Un client passe à côté de lui, sans lui porter attention ou lui laisser de la place. L’homme se rend à la caisse et attend son tour. La personne devant lui s’avance, c’est maintenant son tour. L’homme regarde la caissière de son point de vue. Âgée de 17 ans, elle le regarde de façon nonchalante. L’homme tend un billet de 5$ pour payer ses achats. L’homme continue son chemin afin de quitter l’épicerie. Les portes de l’épicerie s’ouvrent. À l’extérieur, on voit un fauteuil roulant. La caméra zoome sur la chaise. On voit un enfant autiste avec un chien d’assistance se faire fermer la porte.
