// ALL MAKER NEWS

Weekly Roundup #49 - New Maker Products // News. The last Weekly Roundup of the year and that means it's Christmas time. If you live up top, then Christmas is all about snow falling, wood fires and generally trying to get warm. But I'm from down-under, where Christmas time is all about 50 degree heat waves, BBQs and trying to stay cool. ABOUT - MICKMAKE - LIVE. LEARN. MAKE. Making Stuff With Tech: What will you make? I fall, I rise, I make mistakes, I live, I learn. I Make. I like making things. The stuff I make generally solves a problem or meets a need. PIPROJECTOR 1.X SERIES DOCUMENTATION The DLP2000 is a relatively cheap DMD, (Digital Mirror Device). It supports a resolution of 854 x 480. Not huge, but TI are selling their “evaluation boards”, (the DLP2000EVM), for around US$99 which is pretty cheap for a projector.However, these evaluation boards are only designed for the BeagleBone.. So this is a simple adapter board that allows you to use an ordinary Raspberry Pi Zero W ANNOUNCING THE MMBOARD! A MICKMAKE SBC WITH ALL THE Currently I've designed a 1050TI graphics board with HDMI out supporting 8K @ 60Hz. Later I'll be adding in Thunderbolt, SATA, USB4.0 when it becomes available and various WiFi and Bluetooth modules. Then we have GbE. A couple of buttons to mash.

WEEKLY ROUNDUP #18

The regular Weekly Roundup of New Maker Products returns for the year with a whole bunch of wireless modules, power control, robotic arms and some cool video processing boards. All coming from a freshly

rebuilt new studio.

NANO PI M4: CAN AN SBC GET ANY BETTER? Turns out there is an executable called rtcwake, which allows you to both set a wake up time and push the SoC into several sleep modes. The NanoPi M4 supports only a handful of modes. Freeze mode freezes all processes, suspends devices allowing a faster wake from sleep, but still consumes a fair amount of juice. ROCK64: CHEAP AND ROCK SOLID // REVIEW 25Q127CSIG - 128Mb SPI flash. K4E8E324EB-EGCF - On this board, at least, 1G LPDDR3 RAM. You can also have 2G or 4G LPDDR3 RAM. RK3288 - And lastly the RK3328, which is a 64 bit quad core SoC with frequency scaling up to 1.3GHz. On the flip side it's really quite boring with

only an SD slot.

MULTIPLEXING: DOING MORE WITH LESS. // TECHNOLOGY Multiplexing, or MUXing, is a way of reducing the number of expensive wires, cables or RF transmitters by combining several signals over one medium. It was originally used in telegraphy in the 1870s to allow more than one person to communicate at a time, and was developed by George Squier in 1910 for the telephone carrier network. To make it easier to understand, I made a model showing this. Watch the YouTube video of the IMU5000 in slow motion action. There are several basic aspects to note in this slow mo video. You can have many combinations of these three to produce other modulation techniques such as QPSK, MSK, DSSS and FHSS, but LoRa is a proprietary modulation technique that uses something similar to the FSK based CSS, or Chirp Spread Spectrum.
