The current version uses synthetic airfoil data, which are characterized by 30 parameters, mainly by zero lift direction, maximum lift coefficient and minimum drag coefficient (look here to see some of the the synthetic polars used in the propeller code). The Reynolds number is fixed so that you might want to check the local Reynolds numbers to select the appropriate polar. JAVAFOIL — ANALYSIS OF AIRFOILS JavaFoil is a relatively simple program, which uses several traditional methods for airfoil analysis. The following two methods build the backbone of the program: The potential flow analysis is done with a higher order panel method (linear varying vorticity distribution). Taking a set of airfoil coordinates, it calculates thelocal, inviscid
JAVAPROP - MH-AEROTOOLS.DE JavaProp is a relatively simple program, which is based on the blade element theory. The propeller blade is divided into small sections, which are handled independently from each other. Each segment has a chord and a blade angle and associated airfoil characteristics. The theory makes no provision for three dimensional effects, like sweepangle

SMALL ENGINES FROM OTHER MANUFACTURERS VA .049 (0.8 cm³) Manufactured in 1995(?) This small engine comes from Russia and has a brass cylinder with an integral, chromed liner. With its Schnürle porting, it was a good performer, available with a glow or a Diesel head.

AIRFOILS FOR FLYING WINGS AND TAILLESS AIRPLANES In principle, tailless model planes and flying wings can be equipped with any airfoil. But if performance is an issue, as it is the case in contest flying, the airfoil should be carefully selected. F3D PYLON RACING: LANDSCAPE OR PORTRAIT? The Panel Method. A Panel method is used to calculate the velocity distribution along the surface of the airfoil. Panel methods have been developed to analyze the flow field around arbitrary bodies in two and three dimensions. The geometry of the airfoil is divided into straight, individual panels. THE MEDALLION FAMILY The Medallion engines, which first appeared in 1961, could be seen as poor mans Tee Dees. Like these, the Medallions were designed by BillAtwood.
LAMINAR SEPARATION BUBBLES Laminar Separation Bubbles. The performance of almost all model aircraft is strongly influenced by laminar separation bubbles, which may occur at low Reynolds numbers. Such a separation bubble is caused by a strong adverse pressure gradient (pressure rise along the surface), which makes the laminar boundary layer to separate from the curved airfoil surface. JAVAFOIL - USERS MANUAL - MH-AEROTOOLS.DE JavaFoil presents itself in a single window or in a single applet area in your browser. It contains a row of tabs on top and a card area below. Each tab shows its associated card which contains input and output elements for a certain topic. DISSECTING THE GEOMETRY OF A MODEL PROPELLER A propeller blade for an ultra-light airplane and the matching set of templates. This method is very similar to the slicing method, but instead of cutting the propeller into pieces, small, flat templates are used, which are attached to the waxed surface of the propeller using quick setting polyester putty. AERODYNAMIC CHARACTERISTICS OF PROPELLERS Propulsion by Propellers Aerodynamic Characteristics of Propellers. A propeller creates a thrust force out of the supplied power. The magnitude of this force is not constant for a given propeller, but depends on the velocity of the incoming air and the rotational velocity of the propeller itself._ German_
