RESEARCH — MEDWAR CHALLENGE Published in issue: June 2012. Abstract: Effective medical education requires both didactic instruction and practical hands-on experience. Wilderness medicine presents unique challenges including environmental concerns and limited resources. Medical Wilderness Adventure Race (MedWAR) was developed to teach and test knowledge and skills specific MISSION — MEDWAR CHALLENGE The MedWAR Mission. To provide medical students, residents, health care professionals, and wilderness enthusiasts with a practical, interactive, and enjoyable curriculum for learning, applying, and evaluating emergency medical knowledge, skills, and techniques in awilderness setting.
GENERAL — MEDWAR CHALLENGE Capacity: 10 teams of four (4) racers at $225 per team. Format: Teams of four run, mountain bike, and rock climb through incredible vistas and beautiful desert scenery while encountering challenging medical simulations and answering questions along the way. All racers receive a Swag Bag with prizes from our sponsors and MedWAR swag! GENERAL — MEDWAR CHALLENGE Pacific Northwest Wilderness Medicine (PNWM) is proud to bring MedWAR Challenge back to the Pacific Northwest for the second year in a row. The Northwest MedWAR has been postponed in a joint effort between NAEAR and PNWM to support efforts to minimize the impact of COVID-19. MedWAR TN is a ten mile adventure race through the Cumberland Gap Mountains, crossing through 3 states along the course. Stations along the way will test your wilderness medicine skills, judgement, and knowledge. Capacity: 30 teams of three (3) racers per team at $180-210 per team. GENERAL — MEDWAR CHALLENGE Capacity: 30 teams of three (3) at $200 per team. Format: Teams should expect to canoe, trek, climb, swim, and get lost at least once, spending the entire day in the woods and finishing after sunset. CME/CE credits are available! MedWAR was the dream child of Emergency Department physicians and medical students at Medical College of Georgia. The first race followed a five "leg" format, where participants checked in to a central headquarters after each leg. GENERAL — MEDWAR CHALLENGE Capacity: 10 teams of four (4) racers at $225 per team.
