HISTORIC MASONRY RESTORATION BEST PRACTICES Historic Masonry Materials. Historic masonry materials primarily refer to brick, terra cotta, stone, concrete block, cast stone, and secondarily, mortar. For this example, we will use 2 twists, or 180 degrees to build this column; basically the full column will have two twists from bottom to top.
