THE BANKS OF THE SWEET PRIMROSES / THE SWEET PRIMEROSES The Banks of the Sweet Primroses is a more recent song, probably less than 200 years old. It was very widely known and Dr. Gardiner collected a version, similar to this one, in Twyford, near Winchester. The song became popular through publication in the Penguin Book ofEnglish Folk Songs.
