HELP!- NICOLAS BERTHOLINI The later ones, around the 1920s-30s are typical French factory work (see here), but I've seen one that I presume was earlier which was quite different; very attractive wood selection, brown varnish, and it appeared to be something of an Amati model - the arching and edgework were not what I'd normally associate with typical French factory work.A nice sounding violin as well. PERNAMBUCO BOW BLANKS Brazil wood or Pernambuco is a rare exotic hardwood that is a burnt reddish-orange color. It is noteworthy that Brazil was named after this wood due to the fact that the vivid orange and burnt red colors of the wood closely resemble the soil of Brazil.Uses include but are not limited to orange dye, stringed instrument bows, and fine boxes.

PROPOLIS VARNISH

Posted July 29, 2006. I used to collect propolis from my father's bee hives. It varied a lot in consistency even in areas a few mm apart. Some was yellow and soft, some was red and waxy other pieces more interestingly were hard red and transparent like very fine varnish.

$600.00 VIOLIN?

Posted December 20, 1996. Hello, again everyone another new adult beginner about to blindly buy a violin. Can anyone tell me if this violin worth $600.00? The label says, hans Wagner Gotz, (the "o" has two dots over it) W. Germany Instrument Nr.08509 Mod.

JULIUS HEBERLEIN?

Posted September 30, 2018. Julius Heberlein was definitely a real maker. His instruments made after his association with the Oliver Ditson Company became much more commercial. I have a violin he built containing a generic Strad label dated Sept of 1904. The violin is hand signed on the inside of the top, upper bass side. READING MUSIC: WHAT GLASSES? Posted April 2. JOSEPH RICHTER VIOLIN BOW Length is 725 mm; weight is 54.3 grams. The bow is in excellent condition and was appraised at $300 (although I was told that was the upper end of its value.) I've always thought the bow was OK, although light compared to the bow I first learned to play with. I recently purchased a Coda "classic" for about $700. FINAL POLISHING LAST COAT OF VARNISH? Is this a cheap violin or does it have some value. Any hints as to its value or where to get it appraised would be appreciated.
