A reusable water bottle is a no brainer, particularly since I have access to clean drinking water. Reusable coffee cup and produce bags are also so useful. But there’s been one item that has completely reframed the way I see things - in particular my period - hey, that’s the menstrual cup! ♻️⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Being an abled human who bleeds on a month to month basis, switching over to reusables such as the menstrual cup and period underwear has actually made my periods easier. I don’t have to worry about buying pads, it ain’t a crime scene in my underpants every month and I don’t have to wait to buy a whole bunch of pads when they go on sale (#elcheapolife). I can even go to the beach and into the water while on my period. 😱🦈🦈 🌊⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Being someone who only used pads, I never thought I would be comfortable with shoving a foreign object into my hooha. Here at Lunette, we believe that positive change is possible and we're working hard to prove it. Remember last June when we teamed up with Kuu Project and Fida International to provide Lunette Cups and an hour long training session about Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) to the Lang'ata Women's Maximum Security Prison in Nairobi, Kenya? Well, six months later we received some pretty amazing feedback that we wanted to share with all of you. Not only have the officers and social department noticed that there's a new level of hygiene at the prison, but the drainage system has also shown huge improvements since not being impacted by disposable period products in the way that it previously was. But more than anything, they've noticed a new confidence coming from the prisoners who have access to Lunette Cups, as they now have the freedom to tend to their daily duties without worrying about their period. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And the prisoners would agree. While all but three had finished serving their terms, those who remained felt a new sense of peace in not having to worry if they'd get period products donated to them every month, or if they'd be forgotten about entirely - which has led to new prisoners asking if they could also have access to reusable period products.
