Following on from deciding my approach (see: Part 1), of getting the Battery+Motor+VESC+Remote working first before anything else, it has been time to read, ask questions and work out where to source items from. My starting point for information is the goldmine: Electric Skateboard Builders. There is so much there that it is a little overwhelming at first; however, when you get it into it and CARVE – LONGBOARD LIFE The Samba from Lush Longboards, a strong UK maker, is a carving board I have been interested in for awhile.I really like the style and the geometry; however, I first need to find some good hills to actually carve on – not easy when you live in urban London but I will find away. 🙂

The most commonly used trucks and wheels for electric builds are Caliber II trucks and ABEC11 Superfly style wheels, using these straight off on a conventional longboard would still make one hell of a longboard and save money later on (if) when electrified. As an alternative to the Superflys (the Superfly core), you can go with the Kegel core, with the likes of the original Orangantang Kegels INTERESTING GEAR: LOKI LONGBOARDS Loki Longboards, of the UK, with some of their solid wood boards. AND PUSH…
I set this site up to help those interested in getting into longboarding or e-boarding (especially the youthful older ones like me, who may not have skateboarded for a long time :->) and to highlight some of the less well-known small time longboard makers, including many Europeans, who are making this sport and pastime a realjoy right now.
I have tried to capture all the various things I have learned from skateboarding and longboarding, push and electric, to help anyone else looking to take it up first time or come back to it – it is a lot offun.
There is no commercial intent behind this site; this is just me rambling on and trying to help others (plus, I guess, a bit of vanity). I make no money from the site (my day job is as a founder and owner of a small tech company) and I pay for everything with my own hard-earned money; but I do get to test a lot, which is an cool upside. I have no sponsorships (not looking for it) nor am I an affiliate for anyone (not looking for that) and there is no advertising on the site (not looking for that either). Finally, I don’t retain any of your data other than what WordPress guesses where roughly in the world (country) you are reading from – because it is interesting. I have a data privacy policy, but it short because I don’t use or hold any of your personal data – read away; and if I can help and promote, great.ABOUT
I am no longboard, or skateboard, expert; just someone who has come back to it later in life (a dad with three children, who thankfully, let me longboard with them) and learned again much on the way. We live in London in the UK and longboard, both push and electric (not much skateboarding currently), around the local neighbourhood or when we go traveling around the world. Some of the stable:

I took the large 100mm 83a Boa Contractor wheels off the Boosted Dual (put back on the original Kegels for a while) and, for a laugh, put them on the drop-down Zenit AB deck to see how it works with such big wheels. The answer is it slows down the conventional push longboard, but the … Continue reading Big wheels on the Zenit LA ROCHELLE – AWESOME TO BOARD AROUND September 30, 2018September 30, 2018by lifeonlongboard

What to build I have decided to do an electric self-build for our next project, a set-up from assembling another kit. Even with the knowledge I have, it is all a little bit daunting to start with, specifically the “what speed controller (ESC/VESC) works with what battery, remote and motors etc?“. The excellent Skate Metric … Continue reading Self Build Part 1 – Vision & ApproachMore Posts
