ADVANCED ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY SHUTTER TIME CALCULATOR This calculator goes beyond the basic “500 Rule” to determine the best shutter time for non-tracked astrophotography on a fixed tripod. Rather than just focal length, this calculator also factors in the effects of sensor pixel density, declination and allows for an adjustable tolerance for star trailing. HOW TO SHOOT LARGE FORMAT ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY PANORAMAS WITH And so, I’d like to share what I’ve discovered so far in my quest for capturing more pixels. I’ve spent the last half year learning how to shoot and process large format landscape astrophotography panoramas. With the techniques in this article, it’s possible to emulate the image caliber of a 4×5″ or even an 8×10″ large format camera using a regular DSLR or mirrorless camera. ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY 101: A LESSON SERIES ON PHOTOGRAPHING THE Feedback. Astrophotography 101 works both ways. We hope to hear from you as much as you from us. If you want a critique on your shot or wish to share your results, have a question or want to suggest something, you can check out the small (but growing) Lonely Speck Flickr Group where other photographers like you can share and learn from each other. . There are already some amazing HOW TO PROCESS MILKY WAY ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY IN ADOBE Keep in mind that the choosing the “best” ISO setting is a little more complex than just following the suggestion of a simple calculator. Different camera sensors perform differently in PHOTOGRAPHING THE MILKY WAY WITH A POINT AND SHOOT: A FIVE As an astrophotographer, I have to say the Canon G1 X II and Fujifilm X30 are the superior RAW samples for Milky Way. The Sony is cleaner but there are definitely less stars in their RAW image which reminds of the “star eater” issue that some folks love to deny. HOW TO PHOTOGRAPH THE MILKY WAY Wide field landscape astrophotography is an impressive form of photography, and it’s accessible to nearly everyone with a camera. Astrophotography has become much easier in the last decade, especially with today’s more affordable, large sensor, high signal-to-noise ratio digital cameras. HOW TO PHOTOGRAPH A DEFOCUSED STAR TRAIL “RAIN SHOWER An unusual method for photographing star trails creates a rain-like effect. I haven’t made a star trail image in a while because I’ve been lately concentrating on capturing the Milky Way.. The idea for this image is based off of something I learned from a tutorial by Andy Chatman: Photographing the Color of Stars.Andy shows us a very simple method to capture the color temperature of stars FUJIFILM X-T1 ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY REVIEW This is THE best review for Fujifilm Astro (Milky way) photography online. I wish you had it updated with ALL the lenses. Specifically the 23mm/f2, 35mm/f2, and the 50mm/f2, as I’m trying to get a weather resistant setup and don’t mind stitching together panoramas (otherwise I’d get the 16mm).Skip to content
