WHAT'S THE DEAL ON CONSEQUENCES? So long as caregivers are solely focused on modifying a child's behavior, the problems that are causing that behavior will remain unsolved. But when caregivers focus instead on solving the problems -- collaboratively and proactively -- not only do the problems get solved, the challenging behaviors that are associated with thoseproblems subside.

WHAT KIDS (AND THE REST OF US) NEED NOW It's true, you reap what you sow. If we handle kids with power and control, that's what we get back. But what happens if we collaborate with them -- as partners -- instead? Lives in the Balance is devoted to moving things in that very direction. Our model is life-changing. Our programs are life-saving. Our research is compelling. Our web-based resources are free. And there's a lot more in the pipeline.MENU

ABOUT US
We have some ideas. Ideas about how behaviorally challenging kids should be understood. And about treating them in ways that are more compassionate and effective. Ideas about treating ALL kids in ways that are non-punitive, non-adversarial, and collaborative, and that teach them skills on the better side of human nature.*
ADVOCACY
Behaviorally challenging kids are often on the receiving end of the most brutal, unenlighted, ineffective treatment society has to offer. They need a voice. In this section, you'll learn about what Lives in the Balance is doing to advocate on behalf of the kids and their caregivers, and how you can get involved.*
CPS RESOURCES
Lives in the Balance has always been the hub of Dr. Ross Greene's CPS model...the evidence-based, empirically-supported approach to helping behaviorally challenging kids and their caregivers. You'll find vast free resources on the CPS model in this section.*
OUTREACH
We're constantly coming up with new ways to help people learn about non-punitive, non-adversarial methods for helping kids, including Collaborative & Proactive Solutions. So you're sure to find what you're looking for in this section.*
SUPPORT US
We're passionate about helping kids, especially the most vulnerable. But we're going to need your support to help us have the greatestimpact.
