The Sheds. Welcome to The Literacy Shed - the home of visual literacy. Here at Literacy Shed we aim to provide teachers with high quality films and animations that can be used in the primary classroom to enhance the teaching of reading and writing. TREASURE - THE LITERACY SHED Treasure. Watch this film on Vimeo. Esther, a homeless woman, is searching through a junkyard. She passes by objects of possible use and worth in favour of things broken or old, until she finds just the right treasure. Describe the old lady's day as a 1st person diary entry. THE BRIDGE - THE LITERACY SHED Watch this film on Vimeo. This is quite a simple idea, the bridge is too narrow for the animals to pass. If they worked together they could get past, the bear and the elk are too stubborn and mean to help each other and they fall into the abyss. The rabbit and raccoon work together and go on their ways. SOAR - THE LITERACY SHED Narrative writing - Create narratives based on Lucas and the rest of the mini aviators, perhaps linked to 'The Borrowers' stories or similar. Write alternative endings before we find out that they are carrying the stars. Description - Write a description of the tiny flying machine, focus on component parts. Seemingly bored with his dull existence, one mans life is changed for ever when the photocopier in work churns out a portable black hole. The man is tempted to use the black hole to steal things. In this film a man builds a robot. Whilst he is asleep some strange beings power up his robot who mysteriously comes to life. Describe the opening scene.
