Increasing numbers of people are meeting and marrying someone from another country and as such, many families now have both a multicultural and an international dimension which would have been far less prevalent a decade ago. GRANDPARENT’S CONTACT The Court may ask a Court appointed social worker, known as a Court Children’s Officer, to speak to the child in order to establish what his/her views are in relation to having contact with their grandparent. A child’s views will be taken into account however how much weight the Court places on their views will depend on their ageand
MATERNITY & PATERNITY LEAVE The lower earnings limit is the amount you have to earn before you are treated as paying National Insurance contributions. In the 2014/2015 tax year the lower earnings limit was £112.00. If you do not satisfy these rules, you may not be eligible to Statutory Maternity Leave so be sure to check with your employer whether you are eligible. Yesterday evening, the government announced more stringent measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus Covid 19 within our communities. These measures have effectively resulted in a lockdown, with the nation being told to stay at home and cease all non-essential travel. MATERNITY & PATERNITY LEAVE The lower earnings limit is the amount you have to earn before you are treated as paying National Insurance contributions. In the 2014/2015 tax year the lower earnings limit was £112.00. If you do not satisfy these rules, you may not be eligible to Statutory Maternity Leave so be sure to check with your employer whether you are eligible. GRANDPARENT’S CONTACT The Court may ask a Court appointed social worker, known as a Court Children’s Officer, to speak to the child in order to establish what his/her views are in relation to having contact with their grandparent. A child’s views will be taken into account however how much weight the Court places on their views will depend on their ageand

I qualified as a solicitor in 1996 and head up the Divorce and Family Law department in Francis Hanna & Co Solicitors . My interests include rowing and being a part-time taxi driver for my two wonderful children. My passion is people – hearing their stories and trying to help them. I’m Karen Connolly.
I’m a born and bred Belfast girl and have been working as an solicitor in Northern Ireland since 2006. I have been part of the Family Law team at Francis Hanna & Co Solicitors since 2010. Sharing knowledge and experience in my particular areas of practice with those who need it is a very rewarding way to spend each working day and it is never a chore to come to work as a result.
