Italian arum is an herbaceous perennial in the arum ( Araceae) family. with arrowhead-shaped leaves appearing in late fall and winter and dying back in the summer. Veins may be cream or silver-colored. A. italicum spreads prolifically both sexually with seed and vegetatively (an asexual form of propagation) through tubers. ATTRACT NATIVE BUTTERFLIES Did visiting Butterflies LIVE! inspire you to plant to attract native pollinators? Bringing butterflies to your yard is a great project, beneficial for the butterflies and for humans too. A good butterfly habitat meets the needs of all stages of the butterfly lifecycle: eggs, caterpillars, chrysalis and adult butterflies. DIY VOLE CAGES, AKA HOSTA CAGES Supplies to make hosta cages. Start with 1/2-inch wire cloth, tin snips and cable ties. A great way to measure what size you’ll need to cut the wire cloth is to take the pot that the hosta comes in from the nursery and measure a piece that is just as high, and can wrap fully around the pot, then add a few extra rows of wire mesh so you can overlap it when you create the circle.
