DEVELOPING EMERGING LEADERS THROUGH MENTORING T he massive shift of the Christian center of gravity from the North and West to the southern and eastern regions of the globe has been fueled by explosive church growth in many countries of Africa, Asia and Latin America. Increased numbers of converts and of local churches has not resulted, however, in a corresponding increase of competent and Christ-like leaders. MAKING THE MOST OF A MISSION EXPERIENCE THROUGH JOURNALING T aking teams on short-term mission trips was unheard of some thirty years ago. Today nearly every church, Christian college and mission agency in the United States is involved. Of the estimated forty thousand short-term sending organizations in America today, there are more than one million short-termers of all ages involved. SPIRITUAL WARFARE: ARISE, FIGHT, AND NEVER GIVE UP The reason why spiritual warfare is so important is that prayer is not only about talking to God; it is also about defeating the devil andhis evil plans.

RESTORING THE ARTS TO THE CHURCH: THE ROLE OF CREATIVITY I ntroduction As the biblical story unfolds, it does so in stories and poetry. In fact, approximately seventy-five percent of scripture consists of narrative, fifteen percent is expressed in poetic forms and only ten percent is propositional and overtly instructional innature.

THE CHURCH IN 2020: WILL WE RECOGNIZE IT? The Church in 2020 will be polysynergetic, evangelical, community-oriented, missional, and inclusive. It will prevail and strengthen, but refocus, in the next decade. The gates of hell will not prevail against it. Challenges and threats will be abundant, but God’s word will not be proclaimed in vain. PRAYER AND FASTING FOR EVANGELISM Prayer is the key ingredient in evangelism; we must pray before, during and after we tell others about Christ (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Fasting is choosing to remove the distractions, giving the Lord God our full attention and asking him to be at work as we evangelize. Combining prayer with fasting connects the natural to thesupernatural.
