BIG PETE ROAD IN PORT WING, 9 AM OF A JUNE MORNING Recorded on June 8, 2021 Recorded in Big Pete Road, Port Wing, Bayfield County, Wisconsin I took a walk down Big Pete Road, leaving my Zoom recording by my car for my hour-long walk. GRAY CATBIRD: ENTIRE SONG BOUT, ALMOST 14 MINUTES Recorded on May 30, 2021 Recorded in Laura's backyard, in Duluth, MN This catbird was singing right next to my front porch for almost 14 minutes. LAURA'S BIRDING BLOG: A BRIEF VISIT TO PORT WING On Tuesday morning, I got up a few minutes after 3 am. It was quite a bit before dawn but a catbird was singing away, so I set my recorderon my front porch.

SILLY BIRD NAMES
The Berylline Hummingbird, Cerulean Warbler, Indigo Bunting, and Lazuli Bunting all take their names from shades of the color blue. And a prothonotary, in the Roman Catholic Church, is a papal notary who wears a yellow hood– the Prothonotary Warbler got its name from its lemon yellow hood. And that’s what’s in a name–at least a birdname.
