BMW's 40-to-32 adapter stubs connect to 40mm Bing carbs. See this page for details on 40mm conversions. The ignition system is the Silent Hektik Powerblock system. This completely replaces the stock system, eliminating the canister and ignition controller. Instead, there is a timing pickup on the alternator nose and a separate controller unit BMW R1100 5-SPEED TRANSMISSIONS The serial number can be found on the right side. There have been three different 5-speed transmissions used in the Oilheads. Some M93 and M94 transmissions are identified as such by the last three digits of the serial number, but M97 transmissions are not. The serial number is on the right side of the transmission, stamped vertically along theAFTERMARKET BRAKES
Spiegler - Very good website!! Brakes for Airheads and older K models. No K11 or R11. Conversion of existing rotors for about $220. Wuedo used to sell their components but I think that is no longer true. Wuedo sells Ferodo parts for Airheads and early Ks. Perry BMW Exchange, (765) 564-6338 sold rebuilt rotors for about $90 as of 1996. BMW AIRHEAD IGNITION SYSTEMS The signals go to the ignition control module (ICM), which is mounted on the right side of the frame backbone. That module controls the dwell time and grounds the coil. Because of the difference in the dwell time, the coils have less resistance and therefore charge faster. There are three basic versions of R1100 MASTER CYLINDER OVERHAUL Step 2: Remove fluid and disconnect the brake hose. Remove the lid from the reservoir and siphon out as much as you can, then remove the banjo bolt from the brake line (with a rag wrapped around the area) and slowly pump the lever to expel the rest of the fluid. It will continue to drip, so leave the rag wrapped around the end of the hosewhen
FUEL TANK PLUMBING
Fuel tank plumbing. All of the fuel-injected BMWs have a fuel pump inside the tank, with hoses that can be somewhat complex to understand. Furthermore, incorrect connection of these hoses can yield long-term problems. For this discussion I'll focus on Oilhead fuel tanks, partly because I have one convenient for pictures and partlybecause these
BMW AIRHEAD RATCHETING GAS CAP Drill through the metal and into the plastic, then leave the drill bit in place and unscrew the cap. A 1/8" hole drilled 7/8" from the center of the cap will work well. This places the hole towards the outside of the logo or just past the step where the handle lies. Of course, the hole can be anywhere on that circle.THE BMW R100GS
The major differences between the R80GS and R100GS are: the oil-cooler on the R100GS. a small 'tombstone' windshield on the R100GS. 798cc vs. 980cc. The R100GS got 40mm carbs in non-US markets while the rest got 32mm carbs. The differences from the G/S are: Paralever rear suspension (185mm travel) and 40mm Marzocchi fork (225mm travel40MM CONVERSION

BMW Airhead rocker arms and posts. There were four rocker arm systems used on /5 and later Airheads. Each system includes the rocker arm itself, the rocker blocks, the rocker shaft and the mounting posts on the head. Since valve adjustment is near and dear to the heart of every Airhead, and valve noise goes hand in hand with the adjustmentand

Stator with 0.6 ohm windings and 105mm mounting diameter. Voltage regulator, Bosch 0 190 601 006 AD1 14V. This was mostly a unique system, with less efficient rectification. BMW HARDWARE
Terminology is a mix of my terms, BMW's terms and standard terms as follows: Fillister - BMW's term for a cylinderical bolt head with a recessed Allen or Torx socket. Commonly called socket-head cap screws elsewhere, INHEX or Inbus ®. Button - Hemispherical bolt heads with a shallow side wall and a recessed Allen or Torx socket. MARZOCCHI R80GS AND R100GS FORKS Marzocchi GS Forks. The R80GS and R100GS (from 1987) were equipped with 40mm Marzocchi forks. Long stroke is the 225mm nominal stroke, although thatincludes the
R1100RS - WWW.LARGIADER.COM November 2001. Starting miles. 60200. Current miles. 154074. Introduced in 1993 for the US, the R1100RS was the first Oilhead. As such it had its share of changes over the years. Most of these changes affected all Oilhead models. First-year models had a black dashboard; after that they were painted to match the bodywork.K75RT WINDSHIELDS
Riding Impressions (compared to K75 Standard with BMW windshield): Much more stable. Doesn't weave in crosswinds, but only slides sideways a bit. Reacts to bumps in corners better, since the windshield isn't part of the steering system. Much, much better headlight. More even high beam and better alignment of high and low toeach other.
LOCK CYLINDERS FOR TWO-SIDED KEYS Lock barrels for 2-sided keys . I see a lot of riders with two or even three keys on their keyring. They bought these bags on eBay, they broke the lock on the gas cap, had to replace the upper clamp, whatever.
