HISTORY - LA POSADA HOTEL La Posada opened May 15, 1930, just after the stock market crash of 1929, and remained open for just 27 years. In 1957, the hotel closed to the public. The museum-quality furnishings were auctioned off in 1959. In the early 1960s, much of the building was gutted and transformed into offices for the Santa Fe Railway.THINGS TO DO

Yellow leaves litter the ground and some resilient flowers are still hanging on through the chilly nights.HUBBELL RUG
Hubbell Rug. Today we unrolled the Hubbell Rug (the world’s largest single loom Navajo textile) and inspected it for pests prior to transporting it to the Museum of Northern Arizona for preventative freezing at the Eastman Collection Center. It takes 6 people to move the rug and it is so large that we can only unroll 1/2 of the rug inthis space.
