CANCER IN NORWAY 2009 There were 27 520 new cancer cases registered in 2009: 54 per cent were among men and 46 per cent among women. The five most common cancer types, in descending order, are for men: prostate, lunge, colon, bladder, skin, and for women: breast, colon, lunge, skin and uterus cancer. Incidental annual variations may occur from one year tothe next.

MAMMOGRAFI-PROGRAMMET Kvinner mellom 50 og 69 år får hvert annet år invitasjon til screening av brystene. TARMSCREENING-PROGRAMMET Snart kommer et nasjonalt tilbud om tarmscreening for alle 55-åringeri Norge.
NÆR 35.000 NYE KREFTTILFELLER I 2019 _Kreftregisteret i Norge har fått inn rapporter om 34.979 nye krefttilfeller for 2019. Det er fortsatt flere krefttilfeller blant menn enn blant kvinner – og menn i Rogaland er de som i størst gradblir rammet._

KREFT I PRESSEN
_På helsefeltet er det som normalt kreftsykdommene som får mest oppmerksomhet i presse og offentlighet – men det var før situasjonen med korona-smitte begynte å utvikle seg. _ HØYERE KREFTRISIKO FOR LAVT UTDANNEDE _Lavt utdannede har forhøyet risiko for en rekke kreftformer – og risikoen for lungekreft er særlig høy. Personer med grunnskole som høyeste fullførte utdanning har tre ganger så høy risiko for lungekreft som de med utdanning fra universitet og høyskole, konstaterer Kreftregisteret. _KREFT I NORGE

Janus serumbank inneholder blodprøver fra 318 628 nordmenn. Janusbanken, som er forbeholdt kreftforskning, er unik i verdenssammenheng når det gjelder størrelse og antall prøver.KREFT I OSLO
Det er store sosiale forskjeller mellom bydelene i Oslo, noe som kan påvirke forekomsten av kreft. Av de ni utvalgte kreftformene fant Kreftregisteret markerte forskjeller for følgende fire kreftformer: lunge, melanom i hud, bryst og prostata. OM FOREBYGGENDE UNDERSØKELSER _Masseundersøkelser mot kreft (screening) har til hensikt å oppdage krefttilfeller eller forstadier til kreft før sykdommen har spredt seg.
