The dough is basically made with wheat flour, sweet rice (glutinous rice) flour/powder, sugar, and yeast. The ratio of flour and sweet rice flour varies depending on preference. JEYUK BOKKEUM (SPICY PORK BBQ) Jeyuk bokkeum (제육볶음), aka dweji bulgogi (돼지불고기), is a spicy marinated pork. It’s another highly popular Korean BBQ dish. Jeyuk means pork, and bokkeum means stir-fry. It’s my son’s absolute favorite! He loves fatty pork and spicy food, which makes this dish perfect for him. Unlike its beef counterpart, which is INSTANT POT KOREAN BRAISED SHORT RIBS (GALBIJJIM) Korean braised short ribs are called galbijjim (or kalbijjim, 갈비찜). There are 3 different galbijjim recipes on this blog – traditional, slow cooker and Instant Pot spicy versions. Season 2 cups of water or broth with 1 teaspoon of soy sauce. Heat the pan, and add the bulgogi and top it with the scallions and mushrooms. Add about half of the broth around the edges of the pan along with the noodles. Add more liquid when the liquid level goes down as you cook. YUKGAEJANG (SPICY BEEF SOUP WITH VEGETABLES) Yukgaejang (육개장) is a hearty, spicy beef soup that’s highly popular in Korea. Made with shredded beef, lots of scallions (pa, 파) and other vegetables such as gosari (fernbrake fiddleheads), beansprouts, and mushrooms, this is a substantial soup that has a great depth of flavor. JANGJORIM (SOY BRAISED BEEF) Jangjorim (장조림) is a soy-braised beef dish. It’s a slightly sweet and salty dish that’s meant to be eaten in small amounts as a basic side dish, mitbanchan (밑반찬). As such, a little bit of meat goes a long way. Back in the day, when beef was scarce, jangjorim was an economical way to put some beef on the table for the whole family. MAEKJEOK (DOENJANG MARINATED PORK) This doenjang (된장) marinated pork is another great option for your Korean BBQ. The marinade is quick to put together as long as you have doenjang (Korean fermented soybean paste.Doenjang gives the pork delicious savory flavors. No doubt the pork dish marinated in a spicy gochujang sauce — jeyuk bokkeum (dwaeji bulgogi ) is more popularthese days.
