COPPER-FREE BRAKES
In many nonasbestos organic (NAO) and ceramic friction formulas, copper has been used to help dissipate heat. To improve the heat transfer characteristics and fade resistance of NAO and ceramic friction materials, many brake manufacturers have used a small amount of copper in their brake pads. THE IMPORTANCE OF FUEL ADDITIVES The Importance of Fuel Additives. Many professional auto repair technicians often classify fuel additives as “mechanic in a can” solutions to various fuel delivery problems, but fuel additives can prevent or remedy many fuel delivery system problems. NO BRAKE PEDAL CONDITION WITH NEW MASTER CYLINDER A “no brake pedal” condition can be encountered after a new master cylinder is installed, leading the technician to believe that the master cylinder is defective. This is likely not the case; the condition can be caused by the piston sticking in bore of the master cylinder during the bleeding process when the brake system is manuallybled.

Many professional auto repair technicians often classify fuel additives as “mechanic in a can” solutions to various fuel delivery problems, but fuel additives can prevent or remedy many fuel delivery system problems. COPPER-FREE BRAKES
Each edge code represents a different level of compliance for various contaminants in the friction material. These include copper (Cu), asbestos, chromium (Cr), lead (Pb), mercury (Hg) and cadmium (Cd). Those that meet the highest rating “N” contain less than 0.50 percent copper and no asbestos, chromium, lead, mercury, cadmium orantimony.
K&W PERMANENT METALLIC BLOCK SEAL Block seal creates a permanent molecular bond that’s as strong as steel. It can seal cracks and holes in cast iron and aluminum engine blocks, head gaskets, and freeze plugs, as well as aluminum and bi-material radiators and heater cores. And even though most do-it-yourselfers can use it successfully, block seal is aprofessional-grade

HOW USING FLUORESCENT DYES FOR LEAK DETECTION BENEFITS It’s a method in which a small amount of fluorescent dye is added into a system and allowed to circulate with the host fluid or refrigerant. The mixture then escapes and accumulates at all leak sites. By scanning the system with a leak detection flashlight, all leaks will glow brilliantly, making them easy to spot. VACUUM BOOSTER DIAGNOSTICS Inspect the vacuum hose to the booster for kinks, cracks or other damage. Check vacuum at idle with a vacuum gauge. To test booster function once the reserve is depleted, hold moderate pressure on the brake pedal and start the engine. If the booster is working properly, the pedal will drop slightly. AXLE REPAIR BEARING GUIDE Certain rear wheel bearings use the axle as an inner race; that is the bearing rollers ride directly on the axle shaft itself. At times, worn or pitted rollers, chipped or damaged bearings can wear a groove into the axle shaft. (See Fig. 1) Over time, the seal may also wear a groove into the axle shaft. LATE MODEL CHRYSLER TIPM DIAGNOSTICS The Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) is the gateway or distribution box for nearly the entire electrical system in late-modelChrysler products.
WHEEL HUB IMPACT DAMAGE Wheel Hub Impact Damage. Extreme forces are put onto the balls or rollers and races of the bearing when a driver hits a pothole or curb hard enough. This can result in the formation of a very small mark on the surfaces. 1,000 miles or more later, these components will start making noise. This damage is 7 BRAKE PARTS NOT TO BE NEGLECTED Insulating the brake pad from the caliper can be done two ways. The first option is to go the “chemical” route with sprays or paste coatings. This type of noise solution involves coating the back of the pad prior to installation. The coating serves as a layer between the pad and caliper. If your shop uses any of these products, make sure toWHEEL SPEED SENSORS
If a wheel rotates at one revolution per second, the wheel speed sensors and tone rings produce a 32-Hertz (Hz) frequency signal, and the time base is calculated by dividing the frequency by 1. This would be 0.03125 second, or 30 milliseconds (mS) rounded down to UNDERSTANDING TIRE WEAR The indicator of excessive positive or negative toe angle is a tire feathering or scuffing that can be detected by stroking your fingertips across the edge of each tread bar or tread block. A feather edge on the inside of the tread bar indicates excess toe-in, while a feather edge on the outside of the tread bar indicates toe-out. 4 SIGNS OF WORN SHOCKS AND STRUTS 3. The Vehicle Exhibits Signs of Body Roll. Similar to how a vehicle can dip and squat during braking and acceleration events, a car’s stability may also be compromised during cornering. If the shocks are starting to go bad, the body will feel like it is leaning into the turn — even on slight turns. 6.0L FUEL INJECTOR INSTALLATION TIPS & BEST PRACTICES Transcript.
