WHAT KIND OF OIL IS USED IN FACTORY-NEW NINJA 300 Regular Kawi 10w40. Yes, you can go synthetic whenever hut some say to wait til at least 3k. Another debate is when you go Synthetic, you can't go back which was true back in the day and I'm talking before I was born as oil came a long way since then. HOW TO MAKE THIS LITTLE SUCKER FASTER You'll only get so much out of the 300 without doing a turbo or something. The 300 just isn't designed to "zip away from cars"; you can dump $1k+ into it trying to get it there (full exhaust, power commander, etc), but if you're going into it wanting it to "zip away", unless you plan on some serious modifications (to the engine), you're going to come out disappointed. The swing arms are the same, but the 300 has an extra bolt hole in front of the tire. This means that a hugger designed for a 250 could go on a 300, but one for a 300 couldn't go on a 250 unless you added an extra bolt hole. Still not a big deal. Just not plug and play. WHO RUNS A 120/70/17 ON THE FRONT? I'm tempted to run a 120/70/17 for more grip and stability. I'm not a canyon carver nor track bike guy. I'm a middle aged man with a back roads daily commute. Just want to get some real world opinions from those who have made this switch. ANYONE RUNNING 20W-50 OR 20W-40 OIL WEIGHTS? Anyone running 20W-40 or 20W-50 oil weights? I'm sure they are very similar in quality, Yoshimura is big in the U.S. because even though they started in Japan, they have a huge presence in AMA sport bike racing and sponsor several road racing and motocross teams in the U.S. Akrapovic is a Slovenia company that has built a huge following through outEurope.
HOW TO MAKE THIS LITTLE SUCKER FASTER Basically, my bike has 40.2 HP now but even with just under 35HP stock, it's still faster than most cars. The extra 5+ HP is nice but comes at some cost. But, a full-exhaust plus ECU-tune isn't much more than a slip-on, so I recommend that route. Any other 'go fast' mods are probably more cost/effort than they're worth. Roughly $6,000 if you do all the work yourself. A full exhaust and filters with a pcv dyno tune will net you about 2-3 hp. Not gaming changing. ANYONE RUNNING 20W-50 OR 20W-40 OIL WEIGHTS?
