YOKAI CONTEST
Yokai Contest. In March 2015 I held a contest for readers to design their own yokai, with two winners having their characters drawn into the image above (the drawing will be updated once the winning designs have been drawn in). There were lots of lovely entries, all of which have been posted below. It was so fun to see your designs and every BOOK II 三 PART 03 (EGG) Shichi could see a cat. It wasn’t a demon, nor a monster. It was a typical gray house cat with a single tail and large, green eyes. The feline was laying in a sunbeam beside an open door, paying no mind to the dust specks floating in the light. BOOK II 十八 PART 18 (PATH) Hime’s word had been true — he had neither seen nor heard another soul for the last forty hours. Shichi wrapped his arms around hisstomach.
十八PART 18 (KNIFE) The next day was choked with rain, though it did little to slow Shichi and Chiyo’s course. The kitsune looked fairly pathetic as she settled down beneath the ledge of rock they had chosen to restbeneath.
四 PART 04 (SMOKE)
Sagiri didn’t need to ask her student if he had cut ties with the human—his behavior made the choice clear. His performance in nearly all of his duties excelled. The fox was completely overcome, collapsed on the muddy ground as she cackled at Shichi’s predicament.JISUK CHO
